Chris Pine doesn't even blink when I ask if he'd want Wonder Woman or Capt. Kirk to have his back in a fight. "Wonder Woman would win because she's radical," Pine says while promoting his new movie The Finest Hours with co-star Ben Foster. "And she looks better in a skirt."

New-Iphone-7-Concept-Gives-Apple's-Next-Flagship-A-Stunning-Redesign

Whether or not Apple launches a new phone this spring, we’re almost certainly going to have to wait until September before the true sequel to the iPhone 6s makes it to store shelves. For iPhone users who weren’t able or willing to upgrade to the most recent version of the phone, the wait can be excruciating. But in the meantime, at least we have concept art.

Blac Chyna is enjoying the sweet, sweet winds of freedom.

The 27-year-old glamour model and new girlfriend of Rob Kardashian was arrested Friday evening after allegedly causing a disturbance after boarding a connecting flight set to fly from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, police said. Chyna, whose real name is Angela Renee White, was charged with misdemeanor public intoxication and has pleaded not guilty, Texas court records show.

A lawyer later posted an $8,000 bond on her behalf. On Saturday, Chyna posted on her Instagram page a selfie video showing her sticking her head out of a moving car, smiling as her hair whips in the wind.

Chyna, who flew to Austin from Los Angeles the day of her connecting flight, also posted on her Snapchat Saturday, just after noon, a photo of her standing beside a black Bentley, the same type of car Rob, 28, has been spotted driving around in L.A., with her as a passenger. The image bears the words, "Bye Texas," and an address that shows it was taken near a highway about 240 miles north west of Austin.

She later posted more videos of her riding inside a vehicle, as Vanessa Carlton's 2001 song "A Thousand Miles" plays. One shows a female friend sitting in the backseat behind her, while another shows Chyna looking at the person sitting beside her, appearing to try to coax them into making an appearance. They are not shown.

Early Saturday morning and hours after Chyna's arrest, Rob Instagrammed a screen grab of a FaceTime session with her. It's unclear when the chat took place.

Chyna is due back in court in Texas at the end of February.

One of Hollywood's hottest couples had an unexpected third wheel during their 2016 SAG Awards date Saturday. While posing for a selfie on the red carpet, Sofia Vergara and new husband Joe Manganiello were photobombed by her Modern Family co-star, Eric Stonestreet, who posed behind the couple and displayed a playful, silly face as they cozied up to each other.

"Unnecessary @ericstonestreet," the actress wrote, alongside an Instagram photo. Stonestreet posted the same pic, saying, "The beautiful people always seem to flock to one another. @joemanganiello @sofiavergara @ericstonestreet #sagawards."

Also on the red carpet, Susan Sarandon photobombed the cast of Straight Outta Compton.

At the event, Vergara showed off her signature curves in a strapless, hot pink Vera Wang gown. Manganiello looked dapper as ever in a black tux.

Second-time SAG Award winner Uzo Aduba celebrated Saturday night's big win with a blast from the past.  The Orange Is the New Black actress typically opts to strut the red carpet of award shows with her sister Chioma Aduba, but for this particular ceremony, she elected to return a decades-old favor.

After accepting the award for Best Actress in a TV Comedy, she shared the moment back out on the red carpet with a teenage friend—her former prom date, Mark Crowley.

"He asked me to the prom, I said yes. I asked him to SAGs, he said yes," she captioned a split shot of herself with Crowley on the SAG Award red carpet next to an adorable throwback photo of the pair before the high school party.

Can this lady get any cooler? Some of us can't even remember our high school prom date's name—or we just choose to forget.  Not only did she take her high school date to one of the biggest nights of her career, but now we also now know how truly elegant she looked when she was just a young high school student and Hollywood unknown.

Though, she's certainly only continued to blossom since her teenage years and last night's emerald gown was clearly proof of her glamorous fashion evolution. The award-winning actress sparkled in a sequin number by Zac Posen, making the rest of us viewers a bit green with envy over Aduba's picture-perfect night.

'That is why we let Dzeko and Jovetic go' - Pellegrini hails Iheanacho hat-trick

'That is why we let Dzeko and Jovetic go' - Pellegrini hails Iheanacho hat-trick
Kelechi Iheanacho scored a hat-trick and earned praise from manager Manuel Pellegrini as Manchester City crushed Aston Villa in the FA Cup.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini says Kelechi Iheanacho's hat-trick against Aston Villa proves the club were right to allow established stars Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic to leave. The 19-year-old striker took full advantage of Sergio Aguero being rested to score three times in the FA Cup fourth-round tie at Villa Park on Saturday, with Raheem Sterling netting the other in an easy 4-0 win.

Dzeko and Jovetic joined Serie A sides Roma and Inter respectively at the start of the season and Pellegrini believes Iheanacho is showing that allowing the more experienced pair to go was the right decision.

"Kelechi is a very good young player," the Chilean told BBC Sport.
"We let Jovetic and Dzeko go because I see Kelechi every day and know what he can do. I am very happy.

"We made some important changes because it is important to rotate with so many matches to play. Bacary Sagna played well at centre-back, he didn't make any mistakes and [Willy] Caballero was solid in goal."

Sterling wanted to take the penalty which put City two goals up, but it was Pellegrini who insisted on Iheanacho doing the honours from 12 yards. The manager added: "I told Bacary Sagna to tell Kelechi to take the penalty. I see him take penalties every day, so he was in charge."

The win means City, who are back in action at Sunderland in the Premier League on Tuesday, are still in contention to win all four major trophies they are competing for this season.

ABUJA, Nigeria (AP) — A survivor hidden in a tree says he watched Boko Haram extremists firebomb huts and heard the screams of children among people burned to death in the latest attack by Nigeria's homegrown Islamic extremists. Scores of charred corpses and bodies with bullet wounds littered the streets from Saturday night's attack on Dalori village just 5 kilometers (3 miles) from Maiduguri, the birthplace of Boko Haram and the biggest city in the northeast, according to survivors and soldiers.

The shooting and burning continued for four hours, survivor Alamin Bakura said, weeping on a telephone call to The Associated Press. He said several of his family members were killed or wounded. The violence continued as three female suicide bombers blew up among people who managed to flee to neighboring Gamori village, killing many people, according to a soldier at the scene who insisted on anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to journalists.

It was not known how many scores of people were killed because bodies still were being collected, including from the surrounding bushes where the insurgents hunted down fleeing villagers, according to Abba Shehu, a security guard helping collect corpses.

Boko Haram has taken to attacking soft targets, increasingly with suicide bombers, since the military last year drove them out of towns and villages in northeastern Nigeria. The 6-year Islamic uprising has killed about 20,000 people and driven 2.5 million from their homes.

Surgery for Bangladesh's 'Tree Man' to remove warts

Abul Bajandar, 26, dubbed "Tree Man" for massive bark-like warts on his hands and feet, sits at Dhaka Medical College Hospital in Dhaka on January 31, 2016
A Bangladeshi father dubbed "Tree Man" for massive bark-like warts on his hands and feet will finally have surgery to remove the growths that first began appearing 10 years ago, a hospital said Sunday. Abul Bajandar, from the southern district of Khulna, was undergoing preparations for the surgery to cut out the growths weighing at least five kilogrammes (11 pounds) that have smothered his hands and feet.

"Initially, I thought that they're harmless," the 26-year-old told AFP at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

"But slowly I lost all my ability to work. There are now dozens of two to three inch roots in both my hands. And there are some small ones in my legs," said Bajandar who was forced to quit working as a bicycle puller.

A team of doctors has been formed to perform the operation at DMCH, Bangladesh's largest state-run hospital, which has decided to waive costs of the treatment. Tests are underway to ensure Bajandar's root-like warts can be removed surgically without damaging major nerves or causing any other health problems.
The massive warts, which first started appearing when he was a teenager but began spreading rapidly four years ago, have been diagnosed as epidermodysplasia verruciformis, an extremely rare genetic skin disease that makes the person susceptible to skin growths.

"Popularly it is known as tree-man disease," DMCH director Samanta Lal Sen told AFP.
"As far as we know there are three such cases in the world including Abul Bajandar. It is the first time we have found such a rare case in Bangladesh," he said.

An Indonesian villager with massive warts all over his body underwent a string of operations in 2008 to remove them. Bajandar's elder sister, Adhuri Bibi, said hundreds of people have visited their home in Khulna over the years to see the "Tree Man".

"Even here at the hospital, hundreds have already gathered," she told AFP.
Bajandar, a father of one, said he tried cutting the warts when they first appeared, but it was extremely painful.

"After that I went to a village homeopath and herbal specialist. But those medicines only worsened my condition."

He also consulted doctors in neighbouring India, but he and his family could not afford the cost of the operation there.

Djokovic's dominance continues, wins 11th Grand Slam title

MELBOURNE, Australia - Novak Djokovic left no room to question his dominance on Sunday night. The 28-year-old Serbian defeated No. 2 Andy Murray in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5, 7-6, en route to his third-straight Grand Slam title and 11th overall. This is his sixth Australian Open title, a record among the men's singles field. Four of those six have come against Murray.

Djokovic has now won 21-straight matches in Grand Slams, dating back to the start of Wimbledon last year. He only lost one Grand Slam match in 2015, when Stan Wawrinka beat him in the French Open final. The only thing missing from Djokovic's trophy case is that elusive French Open crown.

Murray was playing in his fifth Australian Open title. The two-time Grand Slam champion and Olympic gold medalist told the media Friday that he knew he had a huge task ahead of him, but anything could happen in any given match. Djokovic was 21-9 in their career head-to-head and had won 10 of his last 11 matches against the Scot, but Murray had twice beaten him in a major final.

Those past matches really didn't matter, Murray said. But Sunday, he failed to figure out a way to put the ghosts of those past matches behind him. When he came to the podium afterwards, he managed to crack a joke about it. "I feel like I've been here before," he said.

There was little he could have done. Djokovic was on his game from the first point. He won the first five games of the match, while Murray looked lethargic. Murray played a stronger second set, serving nine aces while hitting 21 winners, compared to two aces and eight winners from Djokovic. They stayed on serve to 3-3, then Djokovic broke. Murray broke right back. The crushing blow came at 5-5, when Murray let a 40-Love advantage slip away. Djokovic rattled off five straight points, breaking on an unforced error from Murray. Djokovic served out the set to take the two-set advantage.

He kept that momentum going into the third, breaking Murray in the first game. Murray broke back at 3-2. The set when to a tiebreak. There, Djokovic dominated. He sealed the win with an ace. The win moves Djokovic into a tie with Roy Emerson for most titles at the Australian Open and into fifth place on the list of all-time Grand Slam titles. He shares fifth place with Bjorn Borg and Rod Laver. Only Roy Emerson, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal have more.

Asked in his press conference what had happened in the first set, Murray noted that'd he started slow in every match this week. There's been a lot going on, he said. His wife is more than eight months pregnant. He said throughout that he would leave if she went into labor. His father-in-law, Nigel Sears, was here, as he is coaches women's singles player Ana Ivanovic. Sears collapsed during Ivanovic's fourth round match and had to be taken to a hospital. Murray was also on court at the time, and went to see Sears straight after winning. Sears turned out to be okay.

An emotional Murray mentioned the difficulty of the week as he thanked the crowd on Sunday night.
"And finally to my wife Kim, I'm sure she's watching back home," Murray said at the podium. "You've been a legend the last two weeks, thank you for all of your support. And I'll be on the next flight home."

He later said he'd been on hold on every flight for the last five days. The press conference was short, as it was already 11:15p.m. and he was due to catch the 1a.m. out of Melbourne.
As Murray rushed to the airport, Djokovic's celebration continued around the grounds.

Brie Larson has won big at the SAG Awards, after being named Best Actress in a movie for her work in Room.

It is the star's first SAG Award win. Larson beat out Cate Blanchett (Carol), Helen Mirren (Woman in Gold), Saoirse Ronan (Brooklyn), and Sarah Silverman (I Smile Back).

"I feel like I was born questioning everything about reality, feeling lost and alone and always worried that I was deeply unlovable," said Larson, accepting her award. She added: "And watching your movies... made me feel less alone and made me feel like that was a safe place to explore my creativity."

Larson thanked her costars, including the adorable Jacob Tremblay, who plays her onscreen son, who she called her "inspiration." "Everything that is this movie is because of you," said Larson, as Tremblay smiled in the audience.

Larson won a Golden Globe for her work in the film and has also been nominated for an Academy Award for her role. After learning of her Oscar nom, the actress said: "I thought, 'Holy s--t!' It's that, mixed with a total flat line."

"I didn't realize how strong my reaction would be," she continued. "My whole body was shaking. I started crying."

    SAG Awards 2016: The 5 Biggest Jaw-Droppers

Idris Elba, SAG Awards, Winner, 2 Statues
Idris Elba, SAG Awards, Winner, 2 Statues
The 22nd Screen Actors Guild Awards, while not a rip-roaring laugh fest (well, actually the Tina Fey- and Amy Poehler-helmed tribute to Carol Burnett was a real rib-tickler), was for the first time in a while full of surprises!

Well, there were at least five, and here they are:

    Idris Elba GIF
    1. SAG Doubled Our Pleasure: Idris Elba is just so...cool. And him doubling the number of actors to win two SAG Awards in one night (yes, now there are two) was the best possible revenge against the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, which passed him over for a Best Supporting Actor nod for Beast of No Nation. Elba's second win came for BBC America's Luther, which, if you've ever seen it, should not surprise you in the least.

    Spotlight Cast, SAG Awards, Winners

    2. Spotlight on the Oscar Shuffle: Some years there isn't a lot of variety when it comes to who takes home the Globe, the SAG and the Oscar for a particular category (see the Christian Bale, Christopher Plummer, Jennifer Hudson, et al. juggernauts of seasons past). And while you just can't argue with some performances, fellow actors decided to crown Alicia Vikander for her supporting role in The Danish Girl, giving her more momentum than Kate Winslet ahead of the Oscars, and Elba's win leaves Best Supporting Actor slightly up in the air, considering Golden Globe winner Sylvester Stallone wasn't even nominated for a SAG. In the Oscar ring with Stallone are Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance and Christian Bale, though we'll meet again in the Oscar edition of the jaw-droppers if Sly doesn't score a knockout in the final round.

Furthermore, Spotlight's ensemble win, coupled with its Critics' Choice victory a couple weeks ago, reasserts its place in the Best Picture Oscar conversation alongside the Producers Guild's best film winner, The Big Short, and Leonardo DiCaprio's one-way ticket to Oscar, The Revenant.

    Downton Abbey SAG Awards GIF
    3. Oh SAG, Those Anglophiles...: Even the cast of Downton Abbey looked shocked to be winning their third round of Actor statues for best performance by an ensemble in a TV drama. Not that the British series, whose final season is now airing on PBS' Masterpiece Classic, isn't superbly acted. It's just...um, so is Game of Thrones...and if Mad Men isn't the sum of its parts, then we don't know what is!

    Kevin Spacey, Jon Hamm
    4. Really? Kevin Spacey?: What's the deal, SAG? No win for Jon Hamm for the final season of Mad Men? Is that some sort of wink-wink in an election year at just how screwed up real politics are along with the TV politics, so why not honor a performance that's...all...about...shadiness...?

See, we're just rambling at this point. We really don't get it.

Uzo Aduba , SAG Awards 2016, Winners
    5. "Welcome to Diverse TV": There goes that Idris Elba again, being all dashing 'n' stuff. That was his quip when he returned to the stage after making history as the first man to win two SAG Awards in one night and only the second actor to ever do it. (Alas, he couldn't be the first Brit, because that first actor was Helen Mirren.) And that seemingly off-the-cuff remark indicated that even Elba may have been pleasantly surprised by the way in which the usually pretty stiff SAG Awards tackled the diversity issue (that's always plagued Hollywood but has finally boiled to the forefront), and perhaps he wanted to stick a little joke in there to acknowledge his fellow winners but also keep the mood light.

Actually, frankly, we were at first surprised that the need for major change in the movie-making business (not that the business of television is perfect but it's way ahead of the movies) didn't factor into more acceptance speeches. But then we remembered that the members of SAG were just going about their usual recent business of honoring each other for some damn fine performances. No platitudes, and the only promises made were of more good work to come.

Suicide bombers now disguise as ‘mad men’ – Army

The Nigeria army has alerted citizens that the insurgent terrorist group, Boko Haram has devised a new tactic to infiltrate the North-east to carry out bomb attacks. Following Friday’s bomb blast at Gombi market, Adamawa, the army has revealed that the insurgents now disguise people as ‘mad men’ to carry out attacks.

This was disclosed in a statement released on Saturday, by the Acting Director of Defence Information, Brigadier-General Rabe Abubakar.

“It has come to the notice of the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) that Boko Haram members, in their desperation to cause colossal havoc, have now devised a new method where they dress like mad persons to gain unsuspecting access to public areas to detonate bombs.

“The 2 male suicide bombers, dressed like mad women and carried out suicide bomb attack in Gombi, Adamawa state, is instructive in this direction. Five people lost their lives and several others were wounded in the heinous attack by these ungodly people.

“The Defence Headquarters therefore urges our fellow good citizens across the country to be wary of mad persons approaching markets, public places or crowded areas so as to nip this ugly trend in the bud.

“Nigerians are also enjoined to be security-conscious at all times and should endeavor to report any suspicious person or object to security agencies for prompt action,” the statement said.

‘He had sex with three of us for our initiation’ | Female teenage cultist expose cult leader

The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested eight secondary school students, for being cult members. The suspected cultists- five boys and three girls- who are between the ages of 14 and 16, belong to the Eiye fraternity.

Vanguard reports that the leader of the gang had sex with the female members as part of their initiation into the group.

While parading the students in Akure, the State Commander of the NSCDS, Ayinla Adeyinka disclosed that a former student returned to the school to initiate the under-aged students. Ayinla further revealed that the students held their meeting every Friday, inside the forest within the school premises.

“The former student of the secondary schools was the one that came to the school to persuade the students to join his group. He had sex with the female ones to initiate them.”

While speaking with journalists, one of the female suspect confessed that three of them were initiated by her boyfriend who is a student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo identified as ‘Sergeant’

She said: “He had sex with the three of us in his house and after the sex he inflicted cuts in our hands to take our blood and told us that we had joined his group.”

A commercial boat accident in Lagos has left four people die. The boat was said to have been on the way to Lekki from Ijede in Ikorodu when it capsized in the Badore area of Ajah. Spokesperson, South-West Zone, National Emergency Management Agency, Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the accident.

Farinloye said it was initially assumed that six people had died in the accident, but it turned out that two people made it out alive. While the number of passengers aboard can’t be immediately ascertained,a total of 13 people were reportedly rescued.

Pupil needs N2.5m to survive after drinking acid in school

Life for three-year-old Darasimi Ogunwunmi has become a daily dose of agony and struggles for survival. Clinging to life at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba Lagos, Darasimi’s survival has been due to his sheer will to live, doctors say.

At the moment, doctors have said Darasimi would require another round of surgery for the repair of his throat and stomach which cumulatively would cost about N2.5m. The bouncing and active little boy, whose parents referred to as the joy of their lives, has been reduced to a sack of bone and skin as he is being fed through a tube on his hospital bed.

Few months ago, Darasimi was a normal kid running to school and running back home into the arms of his mother; today he cannot even drink water. In November 2015, Darasimi, a Kindergarten One pupil of Fahsal Children’s School, Ilupeju Estate, Idiroko, Ogun State, drank caustic soda left lying carelessly around his class while he was thirsty.

Saturday PUNCH learnt that the proprietor of Fahsal, Mrs. Fausat Abubakar, recently added soap making into her line of business but rather than remove the production far from the reach of her pupils, the soap is being produced right beside their classrooms. On November 19, the worst happened when Darasimi became thirsty and his teachers turned a deaf ear to his incessant cry for water.

That day, Saturday PUNCH learnt that there was a Parent-Teacher Association meeting at the school during which it was announced that the school was to commence soap-making in the school premises. Part of the caustic soda already mixed and left around was what Darasimi drank from.

They only realised what had happened when the boy was found outside his classroom crying and bleeding from the mouth. The boy’s mother, Toyin, a food vendor in the area, said teachers in the school told her that liquid caustic soda was left in a bowl and the boy took a cup of what he thought was water and drank from it.

The lethal liquid destroyed the boy’s throat and stomach, doctors said. According to a research report published by the Sau Paulo Medical Journal, caustic substances cause tissue destruction through liquefaction or coagulation reactions. Experts say caustic soda, which is also referred to as sodium hydroxide or lye is an acid that breaks down tissues faster than many other chemicals.

They say complications from drinking caustic soda include esophagitis (inflammation of the oesophagus), esophageal stenosis (a narrowing of the lumen of the oesophagus that slows or impedes the passage of fluid and foods) and progression to cancer, fistulas, perforations, stomach lesions, brain abscesses, and death.

Toyin said after her son drank the dangerous acid, nobody from his school made any attempt to call her or her husband until a boy arrived from school and explained that something had happened to Darasimi.

Toyin told Saturday PUNCH, “Darasimi goes to school with another little boy every morning. It was the little boy who came home and told us that Darasinmi had been taken to the hospital. I could not understand what the boy was saying because none of his teachers called us to say anything was wrong with him.

“I sell food around the school and could not understand why nobody tried to even alert me to what happened as his teachers took him to the hospital.
“My husband and I rushed to the school and some of his teachers said they were just about to call us. I told them they were wicked people because they only said that because they saw us.
“They told us he was at a hospital in Idiroko and we rushed there. We found the proprietor with few other teachers in the school. They were crying when they saw us. I quickly grabbed the woman and asked what had happened to my boy.”

Toyin and her husband rushed inside the hospital to find their boy being treated by some doctors.
After a few hours, they were told to take the boy to another General Hospital at Sango, it was learnt. Toyin said they were about to board an ambulance that would take them to the second hospital when the proprietor of the school handed them N10,000 for the treatment of the boy.

“We quickly returned the money to her and told her that we were in it together. She could not just hand us N10,000 and say goodbye to us. We left for the hospital together,” she said.

At Sango, the worried parents were told that the hospital could not treat such an extensive problem. They were referred to the Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta, where the boy was admitted and treated for another six days. Again, the hospital referred them for more advanced treatment at the LUTH.

Toyin said, “We got to LUTH on November 26 and after few days of treatment, they told us that we needed N65,000 for an initial surgery, which was to take place on December 1. “A day before the surgery was supposed to take place, we had not paid and we had borrowed from everywhere we could turn to for the initial treatment.”

Saturday PUNCH learnt that around this time, Darasimi started to take little quantity of tea. So, doctors decided to watch him for a few days. The boy’s parents said the proprietor made no further attempt to call them while several attempts to speak with her proved abortive as she no longer picked their calls.

Toyin said, “Sometimes, frustration would force me to call teachers of the school to ask of the woman, they would say she had not been to the school for a while. Sometimes, they would say she was ill.

“We had to tell the doctors to discharge our son. We could not work and there was no money to pay for his treatment. Even the money for the hospital bills was borrowed from the family of another patient. We had to refund it after we got home.”

Few days after getting home, Saturday PUNCH learnt that Darasimi could not ingest anything food again and had to be taken to a health centre in Idiroko. When the boy’s situation worsened, he had to be taken to the General Hospital, which admitted him for two days before referring him back to LUTH.

At LUTH, doctors said it had become imperative for the boy to undertake the initial surgery that was put off as the parents run from pillar to post praying for the survival of their son. Toyin said Abubakar later sent N15,000 with beverages to them for the care of the boy. After borrowing money to add to the N15,000 the proprietor sent to them, the Ogunwunmis paid N65,000 for the surgery of their son, who nearly died few hours before the surgery.

Saturday PUNCH learnt the boy was found unresponsive on the morning of the day the surgery was to take place. He was resuscitated and the surgery took place later that evening. Again, it was a tough battle rousing him from his anesthetised sleep after the surgery. But at the moment, the doctors said the boy needs further comprehensive surgeries that will cost N2.5m for him to survive.

Doctors, who spoke under a condition of anonymity, said the boy would require at least two more surgeries. They said the boy’s stomach and oesophagus have to be reconstructed urgently. “They are operations that require some urgency if the boy is to survive. The boy is just lying here. Other than just trying to stabilise him, nothing is being done to his case because the funds are not forthcoming. The parents just hang around crying,” one doctor said.
Darasinmi now lies in the Ward E4 of LUTH with uncertain fate.

His parents are apprehensive about where to get such a huge amount of money as they are already indebted heavily. “Is it our fault that we sent our son to school? We sent him to a private school because we wanted the best education for him despite the fact that we are struggling financially. But now, the school has nearly killed him,” Toyin said.

When Abubakar was contacted, her daughter said she left her phone at home and would contact our correspondent herself. By the following day when she had not, our correspondent called her again, her phone number was switched off. When our correspondent tried calling her again on Friday and the call went through, she did not pick it and neither did she reply a message sent to her.

Our correspondent contacted the Ogun State Commissioner of Education, Mrs. Modupe Mujota, and realised that she had not got a report about the incident. “Please kindly send a short brief about the incident to my phone. We will take action immediately,” the commissioner said.

As of the time of filing this report, it is unclear what action has been taken on the issue.
Meanwhile, the parents have opened a bank account in the boy’s name to help raise money for his surgery – FCMB account no: 3528300027; account name: Darasinmi Ogunwunmi.

15 die in Adamawa bomb blasts

Several people were killed in a twin bomb blast that rocked the Gombi Grain Market in Adamawa State on Friday.

An eyewitness who spoke to our correspondent said that the blast occurred around 2pm when the market was filled to the brim. It was stated that several people are looking for their loved ones who went to the market to buy grains.

The sources said that two male suicide bombers carried out the attacks. It was further gathered that the youths of the community arrested one of the attackers with unexploded bomb strapped to his body.

He was said to have confessed to his interrogators that five suicide bombers were deployed in the market for the operation, confessing that only two of the suicide attackers detonated their bombers, while two others were still hiding in the locality.

The source said that about 15 people were killed in the attack with several others injured. The source said, “There was a bomb attack in Gombi Grain Market. The attack took place around 2pm when the market was filled with people.

“The casualty figure is between 12 to 15 people while several others sustained injuries. Several people are looking for their loved ones who went to the market.”

The Acting Director, Defence Information, Brig. Rabe Abubakar, who confirmed the unfortunate incident, urged Nigerians to be vigilant and pay attention to the presence of mad persons in crowded areas and markets. He said that the insurgents had devised a new means of disguising as mad people to detonate their dangerous weapons in crowded places and markets.

He said, “It is true that the incident happened. The general public should be aware of the new tactics of the Boko Haram members who have devised another strange method of disguising as mad people in order to carry out their heinous acts against the citizens. Nigeria should be wary of mad persons in markets and crowded places.”

I will arrest Danku and his mother –Oritse Femi

The drama between pop star, Oritse Femi, and his estranged manager, Danku, keeps getting hotter by the week. Just last week, the singer’s ex-manager claimed he picked up the ‘Double Wahala’ singer from the slums of Ajegunle and made him a star. This apparently did not go down well with the singer as he bared his soul in an exclusive chat with Saturday Beats.

Oritse Femi explained what led to their fallout and cleared the air about how he met his estranged manager.

He said, “Danku just left the house one day and never came back. I don’t have anything against him. The day he left, I was not home, he just took my Acura MDX SUV and all the money I had in his account. I feel that is a criminal act and it is enough for me to arrest him. I have just been watching him without saying a word but I think it is time to talk. I went to Ondo State and before I got back, Danku had disappeared. I called him that I had returned and he should come home, he said okay, but never came back.

“During that period, my Instagram account was hacked and it was reactivated by one of D’banj’s friends, Harold. I gave Danku N50,000 to pay Harold but he did not pay and Harold did not grant me access to my account. At first, Danku did not tell me that he did not pay the guy, instead he said that my Instagram account had expired and I was marvelled. I got Harold’s number and he told me he was never paid. I called Danku to ask why he did not pay Harold, all of a sudden, he told me I should never call him in my life and if I tried it, he would place a curse on me. He said my problem was too much and he didn’t want to have anything to do with me.

“I had to involve D’banj who helped us to settle the problem with Harold. I told Danku I would understand if he wanted to be left alone but he should return my money and car but he refused. I have decided to sue him.”

The singer alleged he empowered Danku’s mother even though he did not get his own mother a job. He said, “I placed my mother on a monthly salary but I empowered his mother’s business with N1m. She is into a business where she needs boats and I bought her two other boats with the one she had before. When his grandmother died, I spent a lot of money to bury her on his behalf. All these his family members know.”

“He said he brought me out of the slums of Ajegunle but I met him in 2014 through a mutual friend who owns Cash Entertainment. He is a big liar to say he used to give me money. He has never given me any money in his life. He knows me especially when I was in Ikeja; boys in the area know how I give people money. I am not a stingy person. I started making money since I was a young boy and my people in Ajegunle know me. I have housed so many boys in Ajegunle so how would he say he used to give me money? I knew him after I released my song, ‘Double Wahala’. It is a blatant lie for him to say he promoted the hit song. I introduced him to so many television stations because I allowed him to represent me. If he says he was the one that promoted ‘Double Wahala’ for me, was he the one that helped me to promote the song, ‘Mercies of the Lord? I did not know him till 2014 to show that he is a liar.”

While alleging he was the one who clothed Danku, Oritse Femi claimed his ex manager still wears the clothes he bought for him till date.

“He says he owns MSN Gang but that is a big lie. I registered that company name myself and created every logo of the company. He now manages an artiste, Rayce, and he put my logo on the guy’s work after I warned him not to do so. Because of that, I will let the law decide who is wrong between us. He has never given me money in his life; instead I have always been the one giving him money. I have witnesses to prove this. When he was ill, I was the one that picked his hospital bill, I have all the receipts. I am taking him to court him and he will have up to 20-count charge. Why will he leave my house with my car and money? He has been lying about me and I would sue him for defamation of character. How would someone whom I do not know from Adam say he picked me up from Ajegunle?

“This year would mark my 25th year as a singer; I started from Sunday Rendezvous in 1996. The first multinational show that I performed at was Benson and Hedges golden show. Where was Danku then? He has been dancing to my songs since he was a kid and he knows I am a legend in this country. He used to tell me all this and now, he tells people he brought me from the slum; this was someone I fed. I am going to sue Danku, his artiste, Rayce, and one HD who shot the video because they used my logo without my permission.

“I will arrest Danku and his mother as well and all the money I spent on him would be recouped. If they don’t arrest him, I will impound the boats because I was the one that bought them,” he said.

How four friends raped me –14-year-old girl

Four friends, Femi Olatunji, 17; Oyekanmi Rasheed, 18; Oladele Habib, 18 and John Alade, 16, are currently chilling at the police net in Lagos, for allegedly raping 14-year-old Habibat Adeolu (not real names).

Speaking to Saturday PUNCH when the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Lagos State Command paraded some suspected criminals recently, Habibat said the friends threatened to kill her if she told anybody about the incident.

Narrating her ordeal, the young girl who said she had known Femi as her tailor, said she went to him to have her dress mended when he and his friends pounced on her.

“Femi had once told me he would want to marry me and I told him I wasn’t interested. That particular day, I had gone to his shop to give him a dress to fix for me. He said Brother Abidoye (I used to run errands for him) was calling me. I got to Brother Abidoye’s room and I didn’t see him.

“At that point, Femi and his friends entered the room, switched off the light and they raped me. I tried shouting and calling for help but because they had tied my mouth, I couldn’t shout very well.

“When they finished, my private part was paining me. I had to tell my mother what happened. That was when she alerted the police and the boys were arrested,” she said. However, the young men claimed they didn’t rape her saying it was a consensual act. Speaking to our correspondent, Femi said Habibat has been his girlfriend for about a year and she actually paid her for the sex they had.

“She is just lying against me. We have been dating since last year. She is more than 14 years old. She came to my shop that day and I suggested to her that we should enter the room. She said I should give her money. I asked her how much she wanted and she said N1,000. I gave her and we went inside and we had sex.

“My friends were outside. We couldn’t have held her hand. A lot of people were even outside. If we had forced her, people would have seen us. Her dad even met me and asked if I would accept her as my wife if she gets pregnant and I said I would because she is my girlfriend. Her dad said I should go because I didn’t have a problem. I have been sleeping with her since because she is my girlfriend.

In his own defence, Oyekanmi said Habibat readily agreed to have sex with him.
“We were at Femi’s place and she and Femi entered the room. Later on, I entered the room because I wanted to charge my phone. I didn’t see Femi there but I saw the girl naked. She wasn’t crying. So I told her I wanted to have sex with her and she said I should go ahead.”

Oladele as well, insisted Habibat collected money from Femi and also agreed to have sex with them.

“She was very comfortable with what we did. When I got to the room, I told her she should allow me to take my own turn and she readily agreed. Nobody held her. People have been sleeping with her. This wasn’t the first time. We all know her in our area. She readily gives to anybody who asks for it.

Blac Chyna seemed to be on Rob Kardashian's mind following her arrest on Friday—or at the very least, on his Instagram. Early Saturday morning, Rob Instagrammed a screen grab of a FaceTime session with his new girlfriend. It's unclear when exactly this chat took place, but Rob shared the screen grab just hours after Blac Chyna was arrested for public intoxication as well as possession of a controlled substance in the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

Per TMZ, Blac Chyna was allegedly drinking, "getting drunk and becoming belligerent during a flight." The Austin Police Department confirmed the model "was removed from the plane and booked into jail for public intoxication with the possibility of additional charges being filed at a later date."

Rob's new girlfriend referenced her "Zaddy" earlier this week on Instagram as well, when she posted a seductive photo of herself "Waiting on Zaddy like [tongue emoji]." Based on the timing of these photos with the confirmation of her new romance, many fans are assuming "Zaddy" is a nickname for Rob.

A source told E! News earlier this week Rob's sisters are "united" and think he is "being disloyal" with his new romance."They want him to be happy, but they're just so over the whole thing."

Zika virus: its effects, how it is spread, and the possible threat to pregnant women

The disease is believed to have infected 1.5 million people since its outbreak in Brazil and dramatic spread around the world
Aedes aegypti are one of two species of mosquito known to carry the Zika virus.
Scientists are warning people living in tropical climates, and especially pregnant women, about a new and alarming virus that once only affected subtropical forests in Africa. Called Zika, public health officials in the US believe it could be an emerging health threat.

    What is Zika?

Until recently, Zika was a rare tropical disease associated with mild symptoms. It takes its name from the Zika forest in Uganda where it was first identified by scientists in the 1940s. It is spread by mosquitoes and so is called an “arbovirus”, in the same family as West Nile and dengue fever.

Only a handful of Zika cases had ever been documented before 2013. But scientists began sounding the alarm after multiple outbreaks were discovered in Pacific islands and south-east Asia. Since then, Zika has spread to Brazil, where scientists estimate as many as 1.5 million people could be infected.

The large-scale outbreak in Brazil led virologists to link the virus to a birth defect called microcephaly, the medical term for abnormally small heads, for the first time. The World Health Organization said no deaths attributable to Zika have been reported. Still, little is known about the virus, which has spread across the world in just over a couple of years. There is little published research on the disease, and it is clinically difficult to diagnose.

    What is microcephaly?

Microcephaly is a serious and uncommon birth defect that doctors believe is caused by below-normal brain development in Utero.  Microcephaly causes lifelong physical and developmental problems for babies born with it. Problems can be wide-ranging, from seizures, to difficulty walking and learning, to hearing loss and vision difficulties.

In the United States, microcephaly affects between two and 12 babies for every 10,000 live births. It is usually associated with women who have certain infections while pregnant, such as toxoplasmosis, or use alcohol during pregnancy.

How did microcephaly come to be linked with Zika?

In Brazil, as thousands became infected with Zika, the rate of microcephaly increased exponentially. In 2013 and 2014, the country documented 167 and 147 cases of microcephaly respectively. But by 2015 as Zika spread, Brazilian officials registered 2,782 cases before the end of the year, according to the New York Times. That’s a 1,792% increase year on year. Virologists who studied Zika in Brazil said they have “a lot of indirect evidence” that connects the virus to microcephaly.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said there is no direct link yet between the virus and the birth defect. Nevertheless, the CDC warned pregnant women to avoid travel to countries where Zika is present, and unofficially some Brazilian health authorities have warned women against getting pregnant.

    How do you get Zika?

Zika is spread by the Aedes genus of mosquito, which transmits the disease when it bites a person infected with Zika, then bites another host. The two most common mosquitoes to transmit the disease are the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus species.

Both are invasive species with worldwide distributions, including in the American south and south-west. It is believed that Aedes albopictus, also called the Asian tiger mosquito, was imported to the United States in the mid-1980s in used tires from Asia.

    What are Zika’s symptoms?

Usually, Zika’s symptoms include fever, red and bumpy rash, joint pain and pink eye. Hospitalization rates are low and the World Health Organization said no deaths have been reported from Zika.

However, a “high rate” of patients with Zika have no symptoms at all, according to the WHO. This is concerning to virologists, who believe that Zika could easily establish a foothold in the southern United States and other areas with tropical climates because people may not know they are infected.

Is Zika in the United States?

Yes. Most recently, officials in Harris County, Texas, found a middle-aged woman contracted the disease in El Salvador before returning to Texas. Three more cases were reported in Florida, two in Illinois and one in Hawaii.

In Puerto Rico, an American territory, locally transmitted cases have been reported, meaning that at least some mosquitoes on the island became infected with the virus.

Why is it spreading so quickly?

Virologists studying the spread of subtropical diseases say it’s unclear why the virus, which was recently rare, spread around the world in just a couple of years. Most believe increased international travel is at least partly responsible, but others theorize that increasingly warm global temperatures resulting from climate change could play a role.

CDC says in full outbreak mode in response to Zika

CHICAGO (Reuters) - U.S. disease detectives have moved into full outbreak mode over the Zika virus, assembling a team of hundreds of experts to try to better understand its impact as it spreads in the Americas.

On Sunday, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention dedicated an emergency operations center staffed around the clock to address Zika, a mosquito-borne virus linked to severe birth defects in thousands of babies in Brazil, agency officials told Reuters.

The CDC has set up such command centers to handle the Ebola outbreak in 2014 and the Haiti cholera epidemic that began in 2010. This time, the team includes many more experts on pregnancy given the unusual impact of Zika.

"We always involve OB-GYNS and pediatricians. In this response, this team is actually much larger and is in many ways the focal point of the activities," Tracee Treadwell, who is helping to lead the CDC's Zika response, said in an interview.

The World Health Organization on Thursday said it would consider next week whether to declare Zika an international health emergency, and estimated that as many as 4 million people could be affected by the virus as it spreads in Latin America and the Caribbean to North America in the coming months.

The U.S. public health agency has been working with the Brazilian Ministry of Health and the WHO since early November to understand the sudden increase in cases of microcephaly, a birth defect marked by small head size that appears linked to Zika. Brazil said this week about 3,700 cases of microcephaly are being studied for signs of Zika.

"It's an extraordinarily complicated situation. There appears to be an association, but we just don't have enough data yet," Treadwell said.

The agency grew more confident of a link between microcephaly and Zika in the middle of January, after it conducted its own tests on tissue samples from two stillborn babies and two babies who died shortly after birth.

All four of the microcephaly cases from Brazil were positive for Zika. A genetic analysis showed the virus from the tissue samples matched the strain circulating in Brazil. The test results prompted the CDC's travel warning on Jan. 15, which advised pregnant women to avoid affected countries.

The agency is working with Brazil's government to set up a rigorous study of Zika's association with microcephaly and is already collaborating on research into a link with Guillain-Barre, a rare disorder in which a person's immune system attacks nerve cells.

All Zika communications go through CDC Director Dr. Thomas Frieden and Dr. Lyle Peterson, who is heading the U.S. response.     The CDC has received "a lot of requests for assistance in many other countries" beyond Brazil, said Treadwell, one of two deputies reporting to Peterson. "We're in the throes of working on what sorts of assistance can we provide."
