New-Iphone-7-Concept-Gives-Apple's-Next-Flagship-A-Stunning-Redesign

Whether or not Apple launches a new phone this spring, we’re almost certainly going to have to wait until September before the true sequel to the iPhone 6s makes it to store shelves. For iPhone users who weren’t able or willing to upgrade to the most recent version of the phone, the wait can be excruciating. But in the meantime, at least we have concept art.

Three attackers were killed at the hotel and a fourth was killed when security forces cleared out a second hotel nearby.

Alabama Grandma, Convicted of Running 9-Year-Old to Death, Collapses and Dies After Family Visit in Prison

A 50-year-old Alabama grandmother and convicted murderer, who authorities said ran her granddaughter to death in 2012, died Friday after apparently suffering a heart attack, the Associated Press reports.

Joyce Garrard first collapsed Sunday in prison, following a visit from her family, her son's attorney, Alan Jackson, told AL.com. She was placed on life support at a Montgomery hospital earlier this week, her attorney, Dani Bone, told WIAT.

Neither Alabama state prison officials nor Garrard's attorney immediately responded to PEOPLE's request for comment. Garrard was convicted in March 2015 of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole, in the death of 9-year-old Savannah Hardin.

Authorities said Garrard forced Hardin to run for more than three hours, while carrying firewood, as punishment for lying about eating candy. Garrard, and her family, have maintained that she would never have intentionally injured Hardin.

"It's all wrong," Garrard's husband, Johnny, told reporters outside the courtroom following her sentencing, according to The Huntsville Times. "It's all wrong. She's innocent of this."

But prosecutors disputed that defense, citing a surveillance tape from the school bus in which Garrard can be overheard saying of Hardin, "She's going to run until I tell her to stop ... I don't play with her."

Hardin's stepmother, Jessica, has been accused of murder in the girl's death, for allegedly failing to intervene, and is currently awaiting trial.

Who is TB Joshua, Nigeria’s Mega Preacher Accused of Criminal Negligence?

Among many Nigerian and other African Christians, TB Joshua is a prophet, a healer and a man of God. On Thursday, however, the Nigerian televangelist is due to appear in a Lagos courtroom, alongside two engineers, charged with criminal negligence that resulted in the deaths of more than 100 people.

The case relates to a tragic incident on September 12, 2014. A Lagos guesthouse belonging to Joshua’s church, the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), collapsed, killing at least 115 people, including 84 South Africans who had traveled across the continent for one of Joshua’s renowned healing services.

The South African government reacted angrily to the event, calling on Nigeria to conduct a thorough investigation. Eventually, in July 2015—10 months after the incident—a Nigerian coroner ruled that SCOAN was culpable of criminal negligence, since the structure had more floors than the foundation could hold, and that those who built the guesthouse should be investigated. The Lagos state ministry of justice indicated its intention in November 2015 to charge the SCOAN’s trustees, of which Joshua is one.

For their part, Joshua and the SCOAN rejected the coroner’s findings as “unreasonable, one-sided and biased.” The Nigerian mega-preacher and his church maintained the collapse was connected to the presence of a mysterious aircraft, which they alleged had been circling the building prior to its collapse.

Even if Joshua is found guilty of criminal negligence, his reputation will not be damaged among his legions of devoted followers, according to Maria Frahm-Arp, an expert in Pentecostal Christianity at the University of Johannesburg. “Right from the beginning, he’s been spinning this story of this mysterious airplane and the idea that this was an attack by Satan,” says Frahm-Arp. “The court can find whatever the court finds, but it’s going to be seen [among Joshua’s followers] as an attack by Satan to try and undermine and discredit him.”

Born in June 1963 to a poor family in a rural part of Ondo state, southwestern Nigeria, Temitope Balogun Joshua claims to have been in his mother’s womb for 15 months before he was born. He says he received his divine calling early in life, when he had a vision in which he was commissioned by God to teach, preach and carry out miracles. The SCOAN was allegedly founded with just eight members; the Lagos’ HQ now reportedly attracts 50,000 worshippers each week, with many traveling from as far afield as South Africa to see the charismatic preacher in the flesh. TB Joshua’s popularity extends online: his Facebook page has more than 1.9 million likes and his Twitter feed 135,000 followers. The church even has a television channel, Emmanuel TV, that broadcasts Joshua’s sermons and publicizes his miracles to millions.

And it is miracles that are central to Joshua’s ministry. Videos on SCOAN’s website include testimonies from church members concerning all kinds of healings, from the exorcism of demons to financial prosperity and fortune to the restoration of a man’s private parts. Joshua also claims to have prophesied in advance the occurrence of multiple world events, from the death of Michael Jackson, to the shooting down of MH17 in Russian airspace, to the November 2015 attacks in Paris. Yet some of Joshua’s prophecies have not yet come to pass: the pastor prophesied in May 2014 that 276 schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram from their dormitories in Chibok, northeast Nigeria, would be returned safely to their families. To date, 219 of the girls remain missing.

Joshua’s “health and wealth gospel” has a particular resonance in places like Nigeria, says Frahm-Arp, where people are inclined to turn to miraculous healers in the absence of the state adequately meeting their needs. More than 60 percent of Nigeria’s population—almost 100 million people—live on less than $1 per day and parts of the country, such as the northeast, lack decent infrastructure due to the ravages of the Boko Haram insurgency. “They are drawn to something outside of the public and governmental domain to try and find answers,” says Frahm-Arp.

The Nigerian preacher has found plentiful earthly rewards for his ministry. In June 2011, Forbes estimated Joshua to be have a net worth of between $10-15 million. He has also developed friends in high places, including the late former Ghanaian president John Atta Mills and Julius Malema, the leader of South Africa’s left-wing opposition the Economic Freedom Fighters. His church has given much to charity: Forbes estimated that Joshua gave more than $20 million to causes including the rehabilitation of former Niger Delta militants between 2008 and 2011, and Joshua founded a Lagos football academy named My People FC, one of whose graduates, Ogenyi Onazi, now plays for Italian club Lazio.

According to Manji Cheto, Nigeria analyst at political consultancy Teneo Intelligence, “pastor-preneurs” like Joshua have struck a chord among Nigeria’s lower classes, who long for the lifestyles that their preachers have. “A lot of people that he attracts are working-class Nigerians, some very poor, and middle-class Nigerians either aspiring to retain or increase their wealth,” says Cheto. “That sort of miracle-working pastor, who has gained notoriety and is a bit of a celebrity, those are the sort of people he would appeal to.”

Kylie Jenner Reveals New Tattoo, Announces She’s Releasing a Nail Polish Line

Kylie Jenner is expanding her Kylie Cosmetics beauty empire.

The 18-year-old Keeping Up with the Kardashians star and Lip Kit maker is now exploring the nail polish market. As part of a collaboration with SinfulColors called King Kylie SinfulShine, Kylie is unveiling the first of three limited-edition nail collections. As we all know, Jenner’s nails are a priority in her beauty routine, as she well-documents it on social media.

She told WWD, “I love getting my nails done and nails in general,” adding that her “go-to style” right now is a natural, short nail. But when it comes to color, “Right now I really like the pinks,” Kylie explained, referring to the Miss Majesty and Miss Chief shades in her first SinfulColors collection.

Her motivation for expanding into the nail polish market was her young fans. She commented, “I wanted to do something innovative and accessible to my young fans. The colors are great for all skin tones, too.” As for her inspiration? “I really don’t get my inspiration from any one place or from fashion. I just go with what I like in the moment,” she said. WWD reports:
The first release includes 20 jewel-tone shades of SinfulShines’s gel-like formula under the King Kylie logo — a persona she created and uses as her Instagram name. In-store displays will mirror the royalty theme. The colors retail for $2.99 — a dollar more than traditional SinfulColors. Two more limited-edition collections will roll out in April and then May.
$2.99 a bottle?! We’re sold. According to WWD industry sources, they estimate “Jenner could add at least $15 million at retail to SinfulColor’s coffers.” Basically meaning everything Kylie Jenner touches turns to gold.

The youngest Jenner-Kardashian also revealed a new tattoo yesterday (Feb. 11), just before she and her family appeared at Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 3 fashion show for NYFW. We have no idea what it is (a shooting star?), so please share your thoughts below.

Two teenage girls found shot dead at school in Phoenix suburb

.

Two teenage girls were killed Friday in a shooting at a high school in Arizona, police said, adding they believe the tragedy was an “isolated incident." Officer Tracey Breeden of the Glendale Police Department identified the two victims as 15-year-old girls who were found next to each other with a weapon nearby. Breeden told a news conference that each had suffered a gunshot wound. Breeden said it was unclear what prompted the shooting, which took place shortly before 8 a.m. at Independence High School, with police arriving on the scene within minutes.
I never thought it would happen here. This tells me that it could happen anywhere, at any school, even if it’s a good school.
Jasmine Molina, 15, a student at the school
One student says she was shocked to learn that two teens had died in a shooting at her suburban Phoenix high school. Lanie Walter, a senior, said Friday that the shooting was heartbreaking because "everyone is so loving” at Independence High School. She says she heard ambulances on her way to the campus in Glendale but didn’t think much of it until her first class went on lockdown. She called her parents to tell them she was OK and said her mother was relieved because she had been watching the news.

Crook’s arm ripped off after failed robbery attempt

Brooklyn robber looses arm

A 17-year-old robber’s arm was severed in Brooklyn after he held up a man at gunpoint for a pair of pricey sneakers, police sources said. Through the app Wallapop, gunman Zachary Sam and seller Philippe Pierre, 39, had arranged to meet up at 1 p.m. Friday in Canarsie, sources said.

But when Pierre showed up, asking $490 for a pair of Air Jordan 8 Retro sneakers, the teen crook pulled out a gun and demanded the kicks for free inside Pierre’s gray Honda Pilot, police sources said.

Pierre stepped on the gas pedal, but Sam, who lives nearby, jumped out of his car at the intersection of East 86th Street and Avenue M, sources said. Instead of speeding off, Pierre turned his car around and drove after Sam, crashing into him in front of a fence. The alleged robber’s arm was ripped off when he was pinned against the fence.

“I saw a kid under a car,” said Alex Saint Fleur, a bus driver who lives across the street.
“The guy ran him over. He got out, the driver said, ‘He’s trying to rob me. He’s trying to rob me.’”
“I saw the gun on the floor,” Fleur added. “The arm was on the floor near the gun.”
Sam got out from under the car, he said, and ran inside a city bus.
“Everyone is screaming, ‘Come back, come back, your arm. You’re bleeding too much,’” Fleur said.

Adam Johnson pleads guilty to child sex charges

Adam Johnson’s sexual Whatsapp messages – The trial of English footballer Adam Johnson for having sexual activities with a minor has begun.

Adam Johnson's sexual Whatsapp messages
Adam Johnson’s sexual Whatsapp messages

Whatsapp messages between the former Sunderland midfielder and a 15-year old girl were read out during the trial at Bradford Crown Court. Johnson has pleaded guilty to charges of grooming and kissing an underage girl, but pleaded not guilty to charges of oral and digital penetration.

Read the text messages below, courtesy Metro.

These were among the first messages they allegedly exchanged after swapping phone numbers on New Year’s Eve 2014.

Adam Johnson (AJ): ‘Are you in the last year of school?’
Girl: ‘Year 10…will you still send me a signed shirt’
AJ: ‘Yeh, I will send you one or sign yours. Whatever you prefer’
Girl: ‘Both if you can’
AJ: ‘Yeh, I can do. Do you want me to sign yours at the game or meet up? Whatever you prefer’
Girl: ‘I don’t mind. Good luck with the city match’

They then started talking about NYE plans, and the schoolgirl said she would be at a family gathering, the court heard.

AJ: ‘Where do you go out to?’
Girl: ‘I’m not old enough to go out’
AJ: ‘Haha but yeh you look old enough. When you 16?’
Girl: ‘People say that all the time. No-one believes me when I say I’m 15’

When she added she would turn 16 in November, Johnson allegedly replied:

AJ: ‘Ages then. LOL’
They allegedly exchanged the following messages on January 17, 2015 after meeting for the first time, when Johnson gave the girl a signed shirt.
Girl: ‘Thank you’
AJ: ‘You owe me’
AJ: ‘I thought I would have got a thank you kiss for the shirt’
AJ: ‘I will get this thank you, it had better be worth it’
Girl: ‘Ha ha it will be’
AJ: ‘Confident aren’t you? Am I only getting a kiss?’
Girl: ‘Depends on what else you’re after’
AJ: ‘I dunno, it depends what you are up for.. a little bit more than a kiss’
Girl: ‘Like?’
AJ: ‘A bit of feeling. Just see. No pressure. Lol’
AJ: ‘Keep deleting our convos’

The following messages were exchanged on January 30, 2015, when the sexual activity allegedly happened in Johnson’s car, parked behind a Chinese takeaway.

AJ: ‘Wasn’t bad, was it?’
AJ: ‘Think we better go in the back next time.’
AJ: ‘It was class. Just wanted to get your jeans off’
Girl: ‘Next time haha’
AJ: ‘I will last 10 seconds tho lol’

At around the same time, Johnson’s girlfriend Stacey Flounders reportedly sent a photo of their newborn baby girl, to which Johnson replied: ‘She looks class.’ Johnson didn’t reply to another message from Stacey because he was ‘engaged with the girl’, the court was told.

Her message allegedly read: ‘Hey, I’m going to try and not be negative with you and believe you more.

Stacey: ‘But if you are doing stupid stuff then you need to stop and think about us. It would be a shame to spoilt it now. I really want us to work because we are a family and we now have Ayla (their baby girl).

An Ode To Murtala Mohammed, 40 Years After – Fani-Kayode

Murtala Mohammed

If there was one man that had a profound effect on our history, perhaps more than any other, it was Gen. Murtala Ramat Mohammed. Sadly he was assassinated 40 years ago, on February 13th 1976. In a clime and a nation in which there are few true heroes, he was certainly one of them.

I could write a whole book on this man. It is a pity that the younger generation of Nigerians don’t know much about him or about what he did and achieved for our nation both before and after he became Head of State in 1975. Forty years after his murder his name still brings joy and admiration to his associates, friends and loved ones and terror and trepidation to his detractors and foes.

Of all the former Heads of State and leaders in our country I admire him the most. His courage, focus, brazenness, righteous anger, strength of character, bellicose nature, passion and ability to take the bull by the horns and do what needed to be done, no matter whose ox was gored and no matter what the consequences were, was exemplary and outstanding.

In these days of cowardice, guile, deceit, doublespeak, subterfuge and political correctness, Mohammed would not have found much pleasure or joy and neither would he have been fully appreciated. He was blunt, fearless and irrepressible and, as they say, he was ”as tough as nails”. He was all that a real warrior ought to be. Most important of all he was inspirational: he scorned death and he had no fear of it.

What a man this was: truly the first among equals. He was a living example of the veracity of the adage that says “who dares wins”. His life was a manifestation of the fact that truly “fortune favors the bold”. Our domestic policy under his watch brought positive and monumental changes to the fortunes of our country and the character of our people. Our foreign policy under him, throughout the six months that he was Head of State, was a sight to be seen. It was Nigeria at her proudest and her best.

In those days we were rich, loud and boisterous. We could boast of having Africa’s strongest army and her most outstanding and best- educated middle class. We were big, strong and powerful and when Nigeria spoke the world listened.

When we sneezed Africa literally caught a cold. When we roared, the world shook. We wielded this great power and influence on the world stage with immense dazzle and razzmatazz. Yet we were also cautious, restrained and deemed as being highly responsible. That is when Nigeria was regarded as the Giant of Africa and rightly so.

Without General Murtala Mohammed the eventual liberation of Angola, Zimbabwe and South Africa would not have been achieved when it was. Though he did not live to see it, he set the ball rolling and he threw down the gauntlet to the western powers and all those that supported racial tyranny and apartheid in the nations of southern Africa.

Some historians have even argued that that is precisely why he was eventually murdered. Yet if that was the motivation for organizing his assassination it did not stop anything because the cat was already out of the bag and his legacy had already been established and taken root.

This is confirmed by the fact that his extraordinary and dynamic foreign policy vis a vis the total liberation of our brother African nations and his unrelenting opposition and resistance to white minority rule in South Africa and Rhodesia (as it then was) continued under the able leadership of his second in command, General Olusegun Obasanjo, after he took over as Head of State on Feb. 14th 1976.

The rest is history.

May General Murtala Ramat Mohammed’s courageous soul continue to rest in peace and may those that are in power today resurrect his spirit and build on his great legacy.

The Director of Press and Public Relation of the scheme, Mrs Abosede Aderibigbe, in a statement in Abuja warned that the scheme had not started posting to state of deployment and would not request any prospective corps members to pay for posting, describing it as the work of cyber criminals.
The statement reads: “The attention of the NYSC Management has been drawn to the activities of some hackers sending messages requesting prospective Corps members to go and check their states of deployment online.
“They refer their victims to a link and ask them to enter their login details as well as choices made during their online registration.
“Management wishes to inform prospective Corps members that posting to states of deployment has not commenced; but will be done at the appropriate time in line with our laid down processes.
“The so-called “link” being sent to prospective Corps members is the handiwork of cyber criminals and should, therefore, be disregarded.
“Prospective Corps members are particularly warned not to make payments for posting or change of posting as that is clearly the motive of the cyber criminals.
“Management will inform prospective Corps members as soon as their posting letters are ready for printing online or delivery to their various institutions of graduation.”
Meanwhile, NYSC wishes to inform prospective Batch A 2016 corps members of the following;

Why We Overturned Wike’s Sack – Supreme Court

Nigeria-supreme-court.1

The Supreme Court in Abuja on Friday, February 12, gave reasons for nullifying the simultaneous verdicts of both the Court of Appeal and the Rivers State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, which invalidated the election of Governor Nyesom Wike.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state

The Apex court had delivered the judgement on January 27, however, it promised to explain the reasons for it on February 12, 2016.

In the lead judgement delivered by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, the apex court insisted that Wike who contested the April 11, 2015 Rivers State governorship election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was denied fair hearing by the lower courts.

According to her, the action of the tribunal was a good ground to set aside the entire proceedings before it, but that since it was an election matter which was time-bound, according to section 289 (6) and (7) of the constitution, it was necessary to consider the appeal according to its merit, Premium Times reports.

Speaking on the alleged violation of documents tendered at the tribunal and the appeal court, she said the function of the card reader, though quite commendable in the conduct of the 2015 elections, is solely to authenticate the owner of the voter’s card and prevent multiple voting by a single voter.

Justice Kekere-Ekun said the card reader cannot replace the voters register, recognised by the constitution.

The Supreme Court said it was not enough for anyone that is challenging the outcome of an election on the premise that there was over-voting, to merely tender and rely on card reader reports, without linking same with the actual voters’ register.

Woman Vomits And Excretes 80 Wraps Of Cocaine In Abuja Airport

It was a mild drama at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja on Friday, February 12, when a 48-year-old businesswoman who deals in clothing materials survived what could have led to her death after she allegedly vomited 15 wraps of white powdery substances that tested positive for cocaine, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) had announced.

The officials of the NDLEA on noticing this, then placed her under observation till she excreted 65 more wraps of the drug.
“She was immediately apprehended by NDLEA officers, who later discovered that she had ingested 80 wraps of cocaine weighing 904 grammes,” Ofoyeju said.
The incident took place at the central screening section of the departure hall during the screening of passengers on an Egypt Airline flight to Jidda, Saudi Arabia en-route Cairo. The native of of Idiroko, Ogun State, who resides in Lagos Island, explained to officials that she is a business woman who deals in clothing materials.
In her statement, she said: “I buy my goods from Ghana. I was introduced into the drug business by a friend and business partner. The drug was brought from Abidjan, Ivory Coast and we were supposed to share the proceeds equally.”
“Until my arrest, I never knew that the cocaine I ingested could have led to my death in Saudi Arabia. I thank God for keeping me alive.”
Confirming the development, the Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Col. Mohammad Abdallah (retd.) vowed that she must be duly prosecuted.
“A mother of three children swallowing cocaine is the height of parental ineptitude. I am glad that she did not die from drug ingestion and she is alive to face trial. This arrest has also saved her because drug trafficking in Saudi Arabia, her final destination, is punishable by death.”
“I expect the general public to draw lessons from this case that drug trafficking leads to immeasurable pain, ignominy and untimely death.”
