Joey Feek Cries as She Says Goodbye to Best Friend: ‘I Don’t Think I Will Ever See Her Again’

So hard to say goodbye. Country singer Rory Feek wrote a touching new blog post on Saturday, January 16, about his terminally ill wife, Joey Feek, being “inconsolable” over saying goodbye to her best friend, Julie Zamboldi.

“I put my arms around her and asked what was wrong,” Rory wrote of his wife, who is in hospice care. “As her lips quivered and she tried to catch her breath, the tears streamed down her cheeks and Joey said, ‘I don’t think I will ever see her again.’”

Zamboldi met the couple, who performed as the duo Joey + Rory, nearly eight years ago at their first Big & Buckle Festival. Joey and Zamboldi soon became very close friends.

“Like an angel from heaven, it was as if God sent Julie to us. To her,” Rory continued. “But none of us exactly knew why, until the cancer showed up again this summer.”

Joey was diagnosed with stage IV cervical cancer in 2014, but she decided to stop chemotherapy treatments in October after the cancer returned and spread to her colon. When Joey started losing her hair, Zamboldi shaved her own head to show her support for her best friend.

“Months later and as Joey’s condition has continued to improve, then worsen, again and again ... Julie has made three trips to Washington and is back here with us again,” Joey added. “She’s been here all week, helping Joey’s sister Jody take care of my wife and me and everyone else. She cooks, she cleans, changes the baby’s diaper, and does any and everything else that she can find to do that needs to be done while we’re living here out of suitcases ... not waiting for someone we love to die. But helping the woman we all love to live.”

Rory has been chronicling Joey’s battle on his blog, This Life I Live, from her hometown of Alexandria, Indiana, where she is in hospice. The pair has a 23-month-old daughter, Indiana.

Earlier this week, Rory said that he has “no desire to go on singing” without his leading lady.

DOUBLE TRAGEDY: Celine Dion's Brother Daniel Dies of Cancer at Age 59, Days After Her Husband René Angélil's Death

 

Just two days after Celine Dion's husband René Angélil died at age 73 from cancer, Dion's older brother Daniel has also passed away.

Daniel, 59, had been battling brain, tongue and throat cancer, according to his sister Claudette, per TMZ. A rep for Dion confirmed the news to Billboard. He passed away early Saturday morning (Jan. 16).

“His last days were in the wonderful care of the doctors and personnel at Maison Adhémar-Dion, a palliative care center in Terrebonne Québec. For those wishing to send flowers, a donation to that organization would be very much appreciated,” read a statement.

After Angélil passed away Thursday, a statement on Dion's website shared that her Jan. 16 and 17 concert dates at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas were canceled. Her next scheduled show is Feb. 23. 

A tribute for Daniel will be held at Salon Charles Rajotte in Repentigny,Quebec, on Jan. 23. A religious funeral will take place at St-Simon-et-Jude in Charlemagne, Quebec, a few days later.

Daniel was the eighth child of Thérèse and Adhémar Dion. He is survived by his mother, Thérèse Tanguay-Dion; his daughters, Valérie and Marie-Michelle; his grandchildren, Matis and Laurianne; and his many brothers and sisters.

A statement released on Celine's website said that Daniel was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away peacefully, adding that "the family requests that in honour of their brother’s memory, their privacy be respected in this time of grief."

Holy Shit! Indian Boy Survives After Being Impaled By Four Foot Steel Rod

For 10-year-old Aman Vishwakarma from Uttar Pradesh, India, his terrifying brush with death could be described as nothing less than a miracle. The youngster cheated death when he fell off 12ft off a roof and got impaled by a 4ft metal rod. The rod entered his body at the thigh and exited through the back. Incredibly, it missed all vital organs and only grazed his spine. The pics might be a bit graphic for some so viewer discretion advised as you continue...

Doctors worked for four hours to remove the rod without causing permanent damage. It had torn a major blood vessel, pierced his bowel and diaphram, grazed his spine and possibly ruptured his lungs - causing two litres of blood to build up in his abdomen.

Recalling his death-defying fall, Aman told of how he was laying mud onto the roof of his family home when the structure collapsed. He screamed in agony as he fell on the exposed spike which was fixed to a concrete block – as neighbours rushed to help him to the nearby Narayan Swaroop Hospital.

His mother Kamla Devi, 30, collapsed when she saw him lying on the ground with the spike protruding from his body. Kamla said: 'They took me to the hospital to see my son. I had completely given up on his chances of survival. So I couldn't believe when the doctor told me he was alive.'

She added: 'It's a miracle. It's no exaggeration to compare the doctors with gods. If not gods, they are god-sent to us.' It took a team of six hospital staff to remove the rod from the small boy without permanently damaging major blood vessels and organs.

Dr Rajeev Singh, the 'hero' surgeon who operated on Aman, said he believed before the operation that saving him was 'practically impossible'. 'His condition was very critical,' Dr Singh said. 'His blood pressure was zero. If the patient was not operated within hours of accident, he could collapsed.'

Aman, who now uses a colostomy bag, has not been able play his beloved cricket or go to school since the accident in October. According to a British doctor, the boy had been 'millimetres' from death – and now faces a lifetime of medical complications.

Dr Arun Ghosh said: 'I think it's pure luck that he survived. 

'Obviously the doctor's did an excellent job but most of the time, when people are impaled, they will die instantly or soon after from bleeding. It would have taken major and complex surgery to save him. You'd have needed a vascular surgeon, a respiratory surgeon, a neurosurgeon, and they would have to be at the top of their game.

'I'm not sure we would be able to get such a major trauma team together on such short notice.

'The spinal damage could mean he suffers from erectile dysfunction, pins and needles in his hands and feet, a lack of coordination and possibly even loss of bladder function.

'Spinal damage - very close to the areas to the top of his spine - could cause feeling, erectile dysfunction, again bladder function, pins and needles in the hands and feet, lack of coordination.

'Because it entered near his anus, he's definitely not going to be able to go to the toilet normally for a very long time, and he'll probably need a colostomy bag to pee.

'Walking is going to be a problem in the short term and because of his damage lungs, he never going to be able to run a marathon.

'He will have some life long problems but really, he survived something he should have died from.'

Reports have revealed how ABC Television producer was murdered and sexually assaulted while on vacation in a yoga retreat in Belize.

A 39-year old executive producer of online operations of ABC television, Anne Swaney, was killed while vacationing in Belize this week. She arrived last Saturday to Nabatunich Resort, Benque Viejo.

 

According to ABC, Swaney was allegedly sexually assaulted before being killed after doing yoga on Thursday morning near the Mopan River nearby the resort. A tour guide found Sawney’s yoga mat another items near the river but he didn’t see her and alerted the authorities.

 

Dogs tracked her scent on Thursday night but she was not found until the next morning.

 

                                  Swaney’s injured corpse was found floating on this river.

 

Daniel Arzu, the Benque Viejo Police Superintendent, said that Swaney’s injured corpse was found floating on the river. She was wearing just a bra. She also had lacerations on the side of her head along with bruises on her neck.

 

“We suspect that she may have been sexually violated. She had bruises around her neck that reveals that there might have been some strangulation or some sort of fight back,” Arzu said.

An investigation is ongoing and a suspect has not yet been identified. An autopsy is underway, according to Chicagoist.

N5,000 stipend not for all unemployed Nigerians-FG

“We will pay some people N5000, we will pay some N10,000, and even for people in teacher conversion scheme, we will pay more than N10,000, N15,000 as stipend while in training, and then after the training, they are going to be employed by state government and the federal government in different institution.

“It is not a programme we shall run alone, the state governments are going to buy into it, they are going to synchronize with us, we are going to do it in synergy”

Isaac Adewole has blamed the current outbreak of the dreaded Lassa fever on the previous administration due to its neglect of a medical roadmap designed to ameliorate the situation.

Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole on Thursday, said the current outbreak of Lassa fever in the country is because the administration of former president, Goodluck Jonathan’s failure to implement a roadmap drawn in 2012. 

 

The minister also disclosed that the ministry was going to begin testing on a potential vaccine that would be used to prevent the virus. He disclosed this while briefing the Senate Committee on Health headed by Sen. Lanre Tejuosho (APC, Lagos) on the outbreak of the lassa virus in Nigeria.

Prof. Adewole put the number of cases as of today was 129 adding that the hospital which treated the deceased victim of the disease before referral to the national hospital was being investigated. The minister said that the virus would have been defeated by now if there was the Jonathan administration had the political will to implement a roadmap designed in 2012 to forestall future occurrence.

He said: “In 2012 we recorded 1723 cases, after that, because of the severity, the post lassa fever outbreak workshop took place and an action plan to ensure this will never happen again was put in place.

“But this action plan was never implemented because it was never funded. We will dust the old plan, modernize it and look at if from the political perspective: what can we do to provide leadership, to provide support.”

On the vaccine being developed to tackle the disease, the minister said government has been “notified of a candidate vaccine which we will put through chemical trial to find out if it would work.

“We call it a candidate vaccine and we would want to run it through trials and that takes some time. Hopefully we will do that this year, once we consider it to be effective and safe then we put it to use.

“If it works then that means that we would be able to immunize people in the affected areas but for now we will continue with our surveillance,” he said.

Blood Bath In Ibadan As Trailers Kill 10 People

It was a sad day in Ibadan yesterday after a trailer lost control and rammed into a group of people, killing 10 of them on the spot. Most of the dead were said to be commercial motorcycle riders, popularly called Okada riders, who were waiting to pick passengers.
