OUAGADOUGOU, Burkina Faso (AP) — Burkina Faso and French forces killed four extremists Saturday and freed more than 126 people to end the seizure of a luxury hotel by al-Qaida-linked militants, Burkina Faso officials said. In addition to the four jihadists, at least 23 people were killed in the attack at the Splendid Hotel and a nearby cafe in Ouagadougou, the capital, the president said. Three attackers were killed at the hotel and a fourth was killed when security forces cleared out a second hotel nearby.

Aurora movie theater shooter, James Holmes, assaulted in prison
The Colorado Department of Corrections has confirmed that an inmate , 27
year old Mark "Slim" Daniels,assaulted theater shooter James Holmes and
a security officer in the highest security prison in the state.
Holmes was not injured, officials say but Daniels will be charged with assault on a correctional officer & an assault on Holmes, said Adrienne Jacobson, spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Corrections.
Holmes was in a Management Control Unit, where he is allowed to spend four hours in a day hall.

The DOC has not seen a copy of the letter and therefore can't say whether Daniels wrote it.
Holmes is serving life sentences in the murders of 12 people at the Century Aurora 16 theater. He also injured 70 people.
State corrections officials sent Holmes to the CSP, the highest security state prison in Colorado in September.
Daniels, who has used many aliases including Katrina Martinez, is serving time for numerous convictions out of Lakewood and Westminster and Adams County for menacing, auto theft, assault and smuggling contraband into prison.
He was charged with first degree assault on a guard in 2006. Daniels is 6-feet-4 and weighs 195 pounds.

witchcraft being tortured, stripped, tied up and burned by an angry mob
in Papua New Guinea.
The women were accused of sorcery after a young man fell ill in a village in Enga province in August.
Social media posts said the women were accused of “invisibly” taking the man’s heart, and then putting it back after they were tortured. In their attackers’ eyes this would also prove their guilt as sorcerers.
In the footage, the women are being prodded and threatened with machetes while being questioned by a group of men.
According to the translation the women deny having done anything, and plead with their attackers.

“There’s no real way they can prove themselves innocent,” one PNG source who has been involved in rescues of victims of sorcery-related violence, told Guardian Australia. “Once they’re suspected they’re basically done for, they’ll be tortured and maybe killed as well.”

“It’s actual participants who are there and actually bragging about what they’re doing. It’s kind of like a Abu Ghraib video or something.”He said he was aware of many people sharing the video on their smartphones, including high school students, and said it wasn’t out of horror but rather approval for the actions being taken against the four accused women.
“There’s no logic going on in the matter … To try to talk logically, even to students, doesn’t really get you very far. They say, we have evidence and you ask what kind of evidence and they say it’s invisible evidence you can’t see it,” he said.
“It’s hard to argue against that.”

Anger is increasing among Papua New Guineans as the attackers go unpunished.
