Chris-Pine-Can't-Say-if-Lynda-Carter-Will-be-in-the-Wonder-Woman-Movie

Chris Pine doesn't even blink when I ask if he'd want Wonder Woman or Capt. Kirk to have his back in a fight. "Wonder Woman would win because she's radical," Pine says while promoting his new movie The Finest Hours with co-star Ben Foster. "And she looks better in a skirt."

New-Iphone-7-Concept-Gives-Apple's-Next-Flagship-A-Stunning-Redesign

Whether or not Apple launches a new phone this spring, we’re almost certainly going to have to wait until September before the true sequel to the iPhone 6s makes it to store shelves. For iPhone users who weren’t able or willing to upgrade to the most recent version of the phone, the wait can be excruciating. But in the meantime, at least we have concept art.

Nike sever ties with Pacquiao over gay comments

Manny Pacquiao
US sports equipment giant Nike on Wednesday axed Manny Pacquiao after he described gay couples as “worse than animals”, slamming the Filipino boxer’s remarks as “abhorrent.”

A Nike statement said the company had severed its ties with Pacquiao, who triggered a firestorm of controversy with his comments to a Filipino broadcaster earlier this week.

“We find Manny Pacquiao’s comments abhorrent,” a Nike statement said.

“Nike strongly opposes discrimination of any kind and has a long history of supporting and standing up for the rights of the LGBT community… we no longer have a relationship with Manny Pacquiao.”

Nike’s move was welcomed by gay rights campaigners in the Philippines Thursday.

“Philippine LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender)and allied groups plus Nike’s enlightened stand has struck down the fundamentalist posturing of a bigot who wants to be a senator of the land,” said Danton Remoto, head of Ang Ladlad (the Unfurled), a gay rights political party.

Devout Christian Pacquiao, 37, who is running for a seat in his country’s Senate, had issued an apology soon after the controversy erupted.

“I’m sorry for comparing homosexuals to animals. Please forgive me for those I’ve hurt,” Pacquiao said in a video post on Instagram, his arms crossed.

Pacquiao said he was not condemning homosexuals but was standing by his conservative Christian faith.

“I love you all with the love of the Lord. I am praying for you.”

Pacquiao told television station TV5 earlier this week: “It’s common sense. Do you see animals mating with the same sex? Animals are better because they can distinguish male from female.”
“If men mate with men and women mate with women, they are worse than animals.”

Pacquiao’s comments were greeted with revulsion in the United States, where same-sex marriage is enshrined in law following a historic Supreme Court ruling.

Jason Collins, the first openly gay athlete in the NBA, dismissed Pacquiao as “bigoted.”
“I lost all respect for you,” Collins wrote on Twitter. “Bigoted people like you (yes you are one) should never hold an office in politics.”

Pacquiao’s long-time rival Floyd Mayweather — who outclassed the Filipino in their money-spinning mega-fight last year — also took aim at the remarks.

“We should let people live their lives the way they want to live their lives. To each his own,” Mayweather was quoted by TMZ Sports as saying.

While homosexuality is not criminalized in the Philippines, gay marriage is outlawed due to strong opposition from the Catholic Church and 80 percent of the country’s 100 million people subscribe to the faith.

But Pacquiao’s remarks angered some of his compatriots.

Singer Aiza Seguerra, who recently married her actress-girlfriend in the US, called on Filipino voters to boycott Pacquiao, who is preparing for his last boxing fight with Timothy Bradley in April, calling him an “ignorant, bigoted hypocrite”.

“You just showed the whole country why we shouldn’t vote for you,” Seguerra said in a post on Instagram.

Filipino sports analyst Ronnie Nathanielsz told AFP there was a genuine risk Pacquiao would lose other international endorsement deals following Nike’s action.

“It will hit him in the pocket for sure,” Nathanielsz said.

The Nike endorsement, whose terms were not disclosed, was Pacquiao’s most prominent sponsorship deal.

Forbes.com magazine put his earnings for 2015 at $160 million including $12 million from endorsements.

Doctors tell woman she’s constipated – she went to the toilet and had a baby

A woman who had no idea she was pregnant ended up giving birth on the toilet, after doctors told her she was suffering constipation.

Charlotte Bryant, 20, visited three GPs in the run up to her son’s birth and not one noticed she was nine months pregnant. And Charlotte was stunned when her tiny baby Joshua popped out, just hours after she’d swallowed some laxatives prescribed by medics.

Teaching assistant Charlotte told metro.co.uk: ‘I’d had really bad backache and I’d gone to the doctors. I’d been diagnosed with inflamed muscles and given painkillers and Diazepman.

‘Then another doctor at my surgery examined my tummy and told me I had constipation. She didn’t have any idea that I was nine months pregnant!

‘I was prescribed with a big box of powder laxatives. I went home and took one and then a short time later I felt an urge to go to the toilet.

‘I sat on the toilet and I felt something really odd between my legs. It was like a poo but it felt like it was coming from the wrong place. I felt the urge to push and then as I looked down and I saw a face looking at me.. It was absolutely surreal.’

Little Joshua came out in seconds and luckily Charlotte’s brother, Adam Bryant, 26, was also at their home in Llanederyn, Cardiff.

Charlotte said: ‘I screamed for my brother and told him I’d had a baby. He told me to stop being stupid until he came downstairs and saw a baby in my arms.’

Charlotte wrapped her baby in a towel and an ambulance was called – which arrived ten minutes later.

‘Six paramedics came through the door. One of them cut the umbilical cord and checked us over and then we were taken straight to hospital.

‘Obviously I didn’t have a thing for him – not even a packet of nappies.’

Joshua who weighed in a healthy 7lb 4oz was rushed to Intensive Care at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, because he was found to be suffering from a chest infection. Charlotte then texted a picture of baby Joshua to her boyfriend of two years, Daniel Hughes, 25.

‘I texted him a picture of Joshua and told him he had s son. He was in complete shock as I was. At first he thought I was playing a joke on him and told me I was fibbing..’

Charlotte said she had absolutely no idea she was pregnant – her periods were like clockwork and she felt no movement in her tummy.

‘I really had no idea I was expecting – I’d put on a few pounds but I thought I’d been eating too much cake.

‘When my back began to ache I would never have believed it was the start of labour pains. It’s funny the doctor thought I was constipated and gave me laxatives and hours later a baby popped out.’

She said becoming an instant mum was a real shock but now Joshua is three weeks old and is adored by his family.

‘He is the most beautiful baby and Daniel and I love him so much even though he was a complete surprise,’ she said.

‘People have been so kind and brought lots of lovely things for him. He doesn’t want for anything. We all call him a little miracle – and he really is too.’

Groom dies on wedding day from celebratory gunfire

A groom was hit and killed by a bullet apparently fired by celebrating members of his wedding party in northern India, a local police officer said Thursday.

Amit Rastogi, 28, was fatally struck late Wednesday in Uttar Pradesh state while leading the party to his bride’s house, in the customary manner at Indian weddings.

“He was hit by a bullet in the head apparently fired by someone from the marriage party but we are looking at other angles, including murder,” Uma Shankar Singh, the investigating officer in Sitapur district where the incident occurred, told AFP.

The officer said the groom, who fell from his horse after being hit, was taken to hospital in the state capital Lucknow where doctors declared him dead. Although outlawed in India, celebratory firing at weddings and other events is common in the country, across South Asia and in other regions, although fatalities are relatively few.

On Monday, a 14-year-old boy was killed after being struck by a bullet at a wedding in neighbouring Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh.

In February, an eight-year-old boy was killed in Shamli district when ruling political party workers fired shots to celebrate their victory in municipal elections.

A Danish aid worker, Anja Ringgren Lovén who saved a starving  little boy who was left for dead in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, after being branded a witch has posted photos of his recovery on her Facebook page.

Photos of the boy, named Hope, being fed a drink of water by Lovén went viral in early February.

Hope

Amazed by what she saw, Loven said, “Thousands of children are being accused of being witches and we’ve both seen torture of children, dead children and frightened children.”

However, she wrote, “Hope is getting so much better. Already gaining a lot of weight and looking so much more healthy. Now we only need him to talk. But that will come naturally when he is out of the hospital and starting his life among all our children. Children become stronger together.”
