Photo: Scissors found in belly of Nigerian pilgrim in Saudi Arabia

An unidentified Nigerian Muslim man arriving in Saudi Arabia for the annual Haj (pilgrimage) next week got the shock of his life when he was told by immigration service that there was a big scissors inside his belly.

According to Saudi daily 'Al Wata'n, the scissors was discovered when the Nigerian pilgrim walked  through the metal detecting machine at the airport in the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah.

The metal inside him caused the metal detecting metal to bleep, causing the police officers to call him aside. After all metal objects on him such as wristwatch and belt were taken off him, the machine still bleeped when he passed through it.
"He was taken for a scan at the hospital and the big surprise was that it showed there is a big scissors inside his abdomen. When he was told about it, the pilgrim got a shock. He said that he underwent  a surgery nearly 15 years ago but never had any pain,” an airport staff said

Snake Freed 7 journalists in Ogun State After judge ordered their detention

snake Seven journalists who were arrested in Ogun were released three hours later, thanks to a snake at the court premises today.

The detained journalists were in the High Court 1, Ota court premises by 11:40 am to make an inquiry in respect of two matters – cases involving victims of Pakoto demolition and killing in Oke – Ore community, which were believed to have been listed for hearing today at the Ota arm of the Ogun state Judiciary.

According to PM News, the reporters, upon alighting from their vehicles at the car park were accosted by a Police orderly who identified himself as Adeyemi Oluwaseun.

When he got to know that they were pressmen, he left them and moved back to his duty post.

Few minutes after,a woman later identified to be the Assistant Court Registrar (ACR) approached the journalists and demanded to see a letter of authority from either the Chief Judge or a Senior judiciary officer permitting them to enter the court premises.

Unconvinced they were journalists in the court to carry out their constitutional duty, she dashed to the judge while the court was in session and when she emerged, she said the judge had ordered their arrest after she misinformed him that they were filming the entire court premises.

For three hours from 11:45am to 2:44 pm, the reporters were detained inside the administrative wing of the court.

But a poisonous snake that emerged from the bushy premises and which bit one of the male judiciary staff, triggering a pandemonium , forced the judge to send the journalists away after reprimanding them.

The judge said following the prevailing emergency, the Assistant Court Registrar had to see to the welfare of the staff.

Some of the staff rushed the victim to the state hospital in Ota for treatment, others stayed behind to hunt for the snake which slipped into one of the crevices at the staircase leading to the entrance of the ACR office.

Before freeing the journalists by 2:44pm, after they were brought into his office, the angry judge Justice N.I. Agbelu, lambasted them, warning them to be wary of mixing court with a public place.

The tongue-lashing lasted for almost 25 minutes as he said,

“I put you under arrest, you are under arrest. You will discover that this compound is fenced round, is that not so? “It is not on the major road that you can just come in. If you are representing the public interest, you must know we have a Head in this court. I am a judge, I have an unlimited jurisdiction in the state.

“I can even say somebody should be arrested without question, but in exercising my power, I have to inquire into many things. “You cant say because you are representing public interest, you cannot just burst into any compound or burst into my house. You have a right as a journalist, but, where your own stops, my own starts.

“And if I am the owner of a house, I have a right to my privacy, fundamental right to privacy, because I want to educate you. If you want to infringe on my right that is where your own right stops which I am entitled to.

“What I am saying is that judiciary has its own right too. You are infringing on our own right. You don’t know? A report came to me that some people invaded the court claiming that they are journalists filming the whole place. “It is not a local market and it is not an open market. You are approaching the court. If you are interested in a particular matter in a company, will you just burst into the company, saying you are journalists?

“That is what I am telling you. You don’t just go into a place and start filming and then say you are a journalist. If we said you are trespassing into our land, do you have any defence. I am telling you, here is not a public place, I am telling you, the court is not a public place,”the Judge warned.

“Pastor Adeboye is greedy and corrupt” | Gay activist, Bisi Alimi runs his mouth on Facebook

It’s perhaps convenient to reside abroad and run commentary on social issues in Nigeria- via Twitter and Facebook.

Managing to stop short of expletives, Nigerian gay rights activist, Bisi Alimi- shared on his Facebook page, unflattering words about Pastor Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Alimi, who is based in the United Kingdom, was reacting to the recent speculative report that Pastor Adeboye, allegedly purchased a new private jet.

In the Facebook post, the activist claimed that Adeboye was exploiting the vulnerability of his flock.
Alimi wrote:
“Pastor Adeboye is an epitome of greed, corruption and everything bad that has enslaved Nigerians, not just at home but globally. This greedy man of GOSH is parasite that lives on the poverty of his church members. Nigeria has one of the highest rate of youth unemployment in the world. Nigeria health service is in a sorry state. Here we have a supposedly “MAN OF GOSH” living fat on the vulnerability of his members. This man, now has one of his pastors as the Vice President of Nigeria. The separation of church from the state in Nigeria is like trying to separate gin from lemonade.
I know this post will attract some hate and bigotry, but if you can be honest with yourself and face the truth instead of acting like the “idiots” some of you are good at acting. How has religion and men of GOSH improved the quality of life (I meant quality and not standard) of everyone of you? Still you will go to church on sunday, give your widow’s mite to these thieves in the night that only come to destroy your essence as human being and they in turn will use your money to build houses you can’t rent. Schools you can’t attend, hospitals you can’t pay for and planes that you will never be close enough to take a selfie with not to even talk of getting on board.
Wake up NIGERIANS from your sleep and slumber, see these greedy, arrogant and sly men for who are they. Take a week and not go to church, turn that energy to question everything you know. Take it to know something you dont know before. Switch off from everything you have been taught and open your mind eyes. Don’t be deceived, these men are after your money and not the goodness of mankind.”

Ibrahim Mazangari, Muhammed Sulaiman, Fatima Mazangari and Saleh Tsojon on Tuesday were alleged to have obtained N1.2 billion from the Federal Government by false pretence and with intent to defraud.

The accused persons, who were offered a biometric contract by a former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Steve Oronsaye, to regularize names of pensioners on the pensions’ payroll, allegedly smuggled in names of fake pensioners, and collected unearned pension.

The fraud allegedly involved two companies – Xangee Technologies Limited and Century Construction Company Limited.

Talba had at the sitting of June 30, rejected a plea bargain proposal by Ibrahim Salau, counsel to  Mazangari, before adjourning to September 15 as a result of the his (Mazangani) absence who was said to be ill.

“Don’t mention plea bargain here. I don’t want to hear about it,” the judge had said.

At the resumed sitting on Tuesday, all the accused persons were present in court to take their plea where they all pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them.

The prosecuting counsel, Atolagbe, while expressing eagerness for the trial to commence, petitioned the court for a short adjournment as one of the key witnesses, who was to appear in court, was recently bereaved.

Salau moved for bail application for the accused persons, and asked the court to admit them to bail on liberal terms, arguing that “the accused persons will not default.”

Following the bail plea, Atolagbe urged the court to “put into consideration the nature of the offence, as it touches on financial crimes involving large sums of money.”

Talba admitted the accused persons to bail in the sum of N10 million and two sureties each in like sum, one of which must be a director in the Federal Civil Service, and the other a responsible member of the society, who must submit an affidavit of means and tax documents.

While fixing November 2 and 3 for trial to begin, the judge ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody, pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions.

MASSOB Deputy Director of Information, Mazi Chris Mocha, stated this on Tuesday in Onitsha while speaking with journalists.

“Buhari cannot stop us from actualisation of a sovereign state of Biafra even if he sends the entire security operatives in the country to the South East and South South geo-political zones,” he said.
The action of the Federal Government is an, act of cowardice because we are a non-violent organisation fighting to actualise a Biafra Republic.”
“Those who wanted to pass to and from the area were thoroughly searched while our members who were coming to attend a meeting were prevented from entering the library venue.
“Our leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, who wanted to preside over the executive meeting had to put it off, citing security reason and to avoid casualty on the side of MASSOB.”
Furthermore, he insisted that Buhari cannot stop them from existing. ” If OBJ as president, who hated Ndigbo and what we stood for could not stop MASSOB for eight years, is it Buhari that will stop us.”
