Oh no! Russian plane with 224 passengers onboard crashes over Sinai, Egypt

A Kogalymavia passenger plane carrying 224 people has crashed in Egypt's Sinai penunsula. The airliner took off from the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheik this morning, and was heading for Russia, according to aviation sources, when it disappeared from radar. It's believed the plane was mainly carrying Russian tourists.

The plane was carrying 212 passengers and 7 crew members. 17 of the passengers are children.

Airbus A321 left Sharm-El-Sheikh for St. Petersburg with flight number 7K9268. It belongs to airline Metrojet and was 18.5 years old and was descending with about 6000 feet per minute just before signal was lost. The captain told ATC after departure of a technical fault and requested a route change. 

Local media says a recovery team is now at the site of the crash.

Controversial cleric, Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka, has advised that if Nigeria cannot stay united, the country should divide. Mbaka of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu, said this in a Youtube video that was released several months ago, but was reposted on October 30. 

Mbaka, while delivering a sermon to his congregants at the Adoration Praying Ground, said: “In some countries, Nigerians are treated as monkeys. One of the richest oil-producing countries in the whole universe. That chain that is holding Nigeria will break this night in Jesus name.”

“If we must be one Nigeria, let it be one Nigeria, but if it can’t be one Nigeria, let us divide. I repeat it, so that when they begin to misquote me, catch me right. Those who are coming to arrest, get ready to be arrested too by the heavenly powers. If we have to be one Nigeria, let it be one Nigeria. But if we can’t be one Nigeria, let us divide.”

“If Nigeria is divided, some Igbo people will like to be Hausa. Off course you know that. So, everybody should be allowed to go to where they want. There are some Igbo people who have no hut in their father’s house here (in the South East), but they have ten-storey building in the North and Lagos. Have you ever seen any storey-building built by a Hausa man in Igboland? Yet we say we are one Nigeria. Not even a hut. What is happening? Let us tell ourselves the truth.”

3 PDP chieftains to be prosecuted for forgery

Three chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party in Enugu have been recommended for trial by he Federal Ministry of Justice over case of alleged forgery.  The recommendation was made by the Director of Public Prosecution, in response to a petition submitted to the police headquarters, by Dennis Oguerinwa Amadi, who represents Udi/Ezeagu Federal constituency at the House of Representatives.

Amadi alleged that the PDP members forged documents in which a former member of the National Assembly benefited.The investigating police officer, Emmanuel Mordi, said in its report: “Considering the overwhelming evidence that flows from the finding of facts in this case, it is conclusive that the suspects may have committed the offence of conspiracy to wit: forgery, impersonation, altering and perjury.” 

The DPP Muhammad Saidu Diri, who signed the document on behalf of the Solicitor General of the Federation, said: “We have carefully perused the case file, it was discovered that the evidence available disclosed an offence of forgery which is a state offence.

“I am therefore directed to request you to forward the case file to the office of the Honourable Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Enugu State for prosecution.”
