OUAGADOUGOU, Burkina Faso (AP) — Burkina Faso and French forces killed four extremists Saturday and freed more than 126 people to end the seizure of a luxury hotel by al-Qaida-linked militants, Burkina Faso officials said. In addition to the four jihadists, at least 23 people were killed in the attack at the Splendid Hotel and a nearby cafe in Ouagadougou, the capital, the president said. Three attackers were killed at the hotel and a fourth was killed when security forces cleared out a second hotel nearby.

Kanye West unveils ‘swish’ tracklist

Kanye West’s new album is finally done and ready to drop! The rapper who has been hinting the project since 2015 announced the news via Twitter on Monday (25 January). The album which is titled ‘Swish’ will consist of ten tracks including the previously released “No More Parties in LA” featuring Kendrick Lamar and “Real Friends”.

Kanye West changes album title from ‘swish’ to ‘waves’

It looks like Kanye West has once again changed the titled of his new album. The project which was once called ‘Swish’ is now named ‘Waves’, according to a new announcement by the rapper. It’s not clear what inspired the name change but “Waves” is also the title of one of the songs on the album.
 
This isn’t the first time Kanye is changing this album title. Before ‘Swish’ and ‘Waves’ the record was called ‘So Help Me God’. Who knows, before the album drops we may have another title.
 
Kanye also unveiled an updated track list for the record, featuring a new song titled “Ultra Light Beam” alongside scribbled signatures by The Dream, Asap Rocky and Swizz Beatz.

Nicki Minaj headed to South Africa

Award-winning rapper Nicki Minaj, is finally coming to South Africa.
 
The news was announced simultaneously on South African national radio stations Metro FM and 5FM on Wednesday morning (27 January).
 
Nicki will be making her way to the country in March and will perform in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. The details are as follows:

Johannesburg – 17 March at the Ticket Pro Dome

Durban – 20 March at Moses Mabhida Stadium

Cape Town – 22 March at the Grand West Arena

We’re all excited about the news because we’ve been waiting for this to happen for a long time. The rapper was due to perform in SA back in 2014 at the Tribe One Festival, which never happened.
 
We might be pushing it here but how cool would it be if she were to surprise us by bringing Beyoncé with?! Since her SA Tour was announced, fans took to social media to share their excitement.

2016 samas not going to be held in sun city

The South African Music Awards (SAMAs) is moving house. The Sun City Superbowl has been home to the awards for years but that won’t be the case come the 22nd SAMAs.
 
“I can safely say that the SAMAs are not going to be at the Sun City Superbowl,” SAMA CEO Refiloe Ramogase told the Sowetan newspaper. “An announcement is pending, as we’re in the process of securing a venue.” He also confirmed that a date for the awards has yet to be finalised and that it won’t be April 2016.
 
In 2011, the SAMAs were hosted at Montecasino in Fourways, Johannesburg but resulted in an underwhelming experience.
 
Sun City has reportedly announced plans to demolish the Superbowl and initiate a multimillion-rand renovation.
