The monopoly of Facebook’s ‘like’ button comes to an end

The years of liking begrudgingly on Facebook may finally be over.

You don’t have to waste your time commenting on a post just to express disapproval anymore- just click dislike and move on.

The world is not exactly a happy place and Facebook is bringing, for the angry ones, a perfect venting tool.

But Facebook says its all about giving its 1.5bn users, an opportunity to express a broader range of emotions.

But really, how many emotions can one pack into a single ‘dislike’ icon?
Critics however says it is a desperate growth move, which would ultimately translate into more money in the bank for Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook shareholders.

While making the big announcement during a Q&A session at the Facebook headquarters, Zuckerberg said: “I think people have asked about the dislike button for many years.

“Today is a special day because today is the day I can say we’re working on it and shipping it.”

“Probably hundreds of people have asked about this, and today is a special day because today is the day that I actually get to say we are working on it, and are very close to shipping a test of it.”

Now we wait, earnestly, to ‘dislike’.
