There is much to talk about
Nollywood – Nigeria’s 2nd largest employer and the world’s second
largest film industry, estimated at a whopping $5 (five) billion dollars
a year.
But is Nollywood sustainable? How long can it keep on churning out
low cost budget movies and still generate a profit? What concrete steps
are being taken to combat piracy? How long can Nigeria continue to rely
on South Africa for high end video productions? When are we going to
bring the real business of Nollywood to Nigeria by investing in skills
training of young people interested in seeking a career and livelihood
in the film industry?
These
are the series of questions to be discussed at the 3rd Annual Forum for
Chief Executive Officers and Business Leaders being organized by Train 2
Gain Nigeria and the not for profit organization CSR Children in
collaboration with Ford Foundation as the serious issue of finding
sustainable solutions to youth unemployment is tackled.
Kate Henshaw who is undeniably one of Nigeria’s leading actresses
will lead the Creatives Industry Panel at the Forum. Kate who has been
in the film industry for over 21 years with over 70 Nollywood films to
her credit, and recently as a producer, will share her candid views on
the sustainability of Nollywood. Registered attendees of the event are
in for a day of amazing insights shared by expert panelists across
several industry sectors.
Kate will be joined on the Creatives Industry panel by Obi Asika,
former Senior Special Assistant to the Presidency on Social Media; Mr
Azu Nwagbogu, the pioneer of the Lagos Photo Festival and Nigeria’s
fashion mogul, Lanre da Silva Ajayi – all of whom will speak on their
particular fields: fashion, the arts, entertainment industry and social
media.
Other industry panels include, Dual Vocational Training, Agribusiness
and Supporting Entrepreneurs with Nigeria’s top business leaders
speaking and sharing their expertise.
The event will take place on October 7, 2015 and is being sponsored

Limited and the Chicken Republic Brand and supported by Jumia Africa;
