Registration for the highly
anticipated Lagos International Poetry Festival is now open. More
exciting is that registration is completely free. Yeah. Free.
There will be masterclasses for emerging and established writers and
poets facilitated by some of the most cutting edge voices on the scene.
The
UK based Inua Ellams will be facilitating a session tagged From Imagery
to Metaphor and Back: Reducing and Exploding Narrative Poetry.
Writer, poet and co-publisher of Saraba Magazine Dami Ajayi will taking the session Transitioning from a poetaster to a Poet and Titilope Sonuga will be facilitating a masterclass on Open Heart Surgery: Writing from a Place of Honesty and Vulnerability. Registration for the masterclasses is ongoing.
Festival events will kick off with the aforementioned masterclasses by 10am on the 28th of Oct. followed by an opening cocktail in the evening at Freedom Park, which will be followed on the 29th by a special session at the University of Lagos featuring Prof. J.P. Clark and groundbreaking performances by festival guests.
Panel discussions and more performances will follow at Freedom Park from Friday the 30th of October with a closing party on the 1st
