In spite of the deadline of Saturday, October 31, the Bank Verification Number (BVN) registration exercise will continue. Although the accounts of Nigerians who haven’t registered for BVN
will be temporarily blocked, they can still access their accounts upon
registration.
Most of the commercial banks have started sending messages instructing customers on how to proceed regarding their accounts. One of such commercial banks sent out this message: “Your account
with us can only receive transfers and deposits. Payments or cash
withdrawals from such accounts have been restricted.”
“Your account with us is still valid as the restriction placed on
your account is temporary, and will be automatically removed once you
enrol for your BVN at any of our branches nationwide.”
