Happy birthdays, Shakira and Gerard Piqué!
The
Colombian songstress and her Spanish soccer-playing man are one of
those special celeb couples who share a birthday as well as a life
together—meaning it's double the fun for the longtime partners who are
turning 39 and 29 today, respectively.
Just last year
the "Hips Don't Lie" singer and the FC Barcelona defender had quite the
unforgettable birthday, as the proud parents were finally able to take
their newborn son Sasha Piqué Mebarak, their second child together, home from the hospital.
With
another year in the books, the lovebirds are still exceptionally busy
raising their adorable 1-year-old and similarly precious 3-year-old son,
Milan. And what makes Shakira's family of four
one of our absolute favorites? The proof is in the photographs, of
course! Check out 17 of her and Gerard's sweetest family moments
together right here:
The blond bombshell and her hunky leading man wave goodbye to the successes of 2015 and say "Hola!" to the new year.
Shakira is confident Gerard will lead her sons in the right direction, telling Parents Latina
magazine how she's hoping to raise modern-day men with progressive
values. "Growing up with a working mom is a start. I also think their
dad is a good example of a modern man to emulate," the celeb revealed.
"Gerard and I pretty much share all parenting responsibilities, although
I'm definitely the disciplinarian."
That smile! Milan looks super-excited for Daddy ahead of
the 2015 Catalonian Football Federation Awards where Piqué was named
Best Catalonian football player.
Marriage might not be on the calendar just yet for this adoring couple, but that doesn't mean they're not completely committed. Opening up to Glam Balleza Latina,
Shakira explained, "We already have what's essential, you know? We have
a union, a love for each other, and a baby. I think that those aspects
of our relationship are already established, and marriage is not going
to change them. But if I'm ever going to get married, he's the one."
Win or lose, Gerard's No. 1 fans will always have their papa's back. Pictured here in November 2015, Shakira is all smiles before an afternoon soccer match in Barcelona.
After becoming a
father, Piqué wasn't afraid to discuss how is entire world changed. "The
love you feel for your child transforms everything. Now you have
someone helpless and tiny that depends on you and only you. You look at
him and know that your world is focused on him, on that part of you," he
told the Huffington Post shortly after Milan's birth.
Of motherhood, the two-time Grammy winner told Ocean Drive
magazine, "Everything is different. Maybe the biggest change is that I
think about the future more, what the world will be like for [Milan]
when he grows up. But when it comes to living, it's all about the
present."
In all honesty, have you ever seen anything more gorgeous than Gerard embracing his two young sons? We think not.
For Shakira and Gerard, it's all about love. "In Spain,
parents speak to their children as equals, and I feel that the children
respond in turn," she explained to the April 2015 issue of Parents Latina
magazine. "But in all three cultures, parents are attentive to their
children. Their dad and I both grew up in very close-knit families, and
that has made us openly affectionate parents."
"She is the best mom in the world, next to mine," Piqué
voiced to Huff Post. "Milan could not have a better mom... I learn a lot
by her side. Shakira has a very great career, knows a lot and has
taught me a lot. She came into my life to transform it and that makes me
very happy." Aww!
"Becoming a mom forced me to re-prioritize and make room
for the things that are most important, while recognizing that there are
things I can let go of and the world won't crumble around me," Shakira
has said about how parenthood has changed her life.
Happy birthday to the gorgeous couple! We hope the day is
filled with even more amazing family memories (and photo opportunities
to share with us fans).
