The trip, which has reportedly crippled activities in the state in the past one week, was described by workers as wasteful and proof of Okorocha’s insensitivity to the plight of the state civil servants who are being owed several months of salary arrears.

Thisday reports that activities at the Imo State Government House and state secretariat along Port Harcourt road, Owerri, has drastically reduced.

A labour leader was said to have accused Okorocha of abandoning the payment of workers’ salaries even when the federal government had released the bailout fund to states and instead embarked on a frivolous trip with part of the money to Turkey.
“The governors’ attitude shows that he is not sensitive to the mood of the state, when nothing is moving, civil servants are owed several months of salaries, the states’ roads are in a deplorable condition begging for attention, pensioners are dying for lack of care due to none payment of their pensions.”
