The office of the governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike on Friday, October 6, confirmed the resignation of Opunabo Inko-Tariah the special adviser, media and publicity to the state governor Nyesom Wike.
An aide to the governor, Simeon Nwakaudu told Naij.com
that Inko-Tariah tendered his resignation today as earlier confirmed by
the media aide himself.
Nwakaudu said: “Yes, it is confirmed he resigned; I just got to the office and I was told that he dropped in a letter.”
The former media aide had accused the Wike of starving him funds for
running his publicity office. He also accused the governor of
stubbornness throughout the judicial process that annulled the
cancellation of the gubernatorial election in the state. Inko-Tariah, an ally of immediate past governor, Chibuike Amaechi,
before joining the political camp of Governor Wike said he worked under
intense pressure as the governor’s media aide.
It will be recalled that the election petition tribunal sitting in
Abuja and headed by Justice Suleiman Ambrosa on Saturday, October 24 nullified the April 11, 2015 election that produced Wike as governor of Rivers state.
Wike, had in a notice of appeal dated November 3, and filed by his lawyer, Emmanuel Ukala (SAN), asked the Court of Appeal in Abuja to set aside the judgment of the tribunal which nullified the April 11, 2015 governorship election. In reaction, the APC in Rivers state said it is not bothered about Wike’s decision to appeal the ruling of the tribunal and it was ready to meet the PDP in court.
